The motor is an 88 series4 turboi motor, there is a place called kenedy eng. (sp?) that makes kit's to bolt it on almost any tranny. I have both the 5 spd and the auto.
It's not uncommon for the exhaust system to glow red hot on a rotary or to catch fire for that matter. That's why they all have idiot lights to indicate an overheating exhaust system. Hell, on my 13B streetport, you could pop the hood at night after a hard run and it would light up the entire engine bay!
rotary protege would be nice, but you could you imagine a built 13BREW gingerly places into the huge engine bay of my 1967 Mustang GTA?? Nothing like pulling up next to a vintage mustang and hearing it rev 10 grand! Man oh man.. I'm also looking at this motor for my turbo pinto....I just bought a new turbocoupe this week for $300. I'll have to hold off until after I get back from my anniversary. I'll have the cash then.

mazda dan I know what you mean I have lit a sig off of the down pipe to show my friends the heat is no *****. The whole exhaust side of turbo was glowing all the way to the cat section
