roll call all ms3 with work wheel

rotas DEF aren't close to RAYS or advan. or anything like that. no way in hell. but as much as i drive my car, there isnt a way in hell im gonna pay for rays or anything like that to DD on. as far as WORKS go. they have their cheap line that AREN'T forged like the cr-kai and such where as you ARE paying that much for no more than JUST the name. im sorry but, any rotas ive owned or seen compared to just youre average work wheel like the the KAI's quality is almost identical. and HEAVYYY!! im not gonna pay over 1200 bucks for works an be heavy, i'd rock some OZ's at 18lbs... nice looking wheel. but, like any forged wheel. they just really aren't THAT strong. i've seen FAR more cracked dented forged wheels than i have just rotas. ( not saying rotas are indestructable) but ****, i'd punch myself in the dick if i ****** up a $700 wheel. but if i AM going to spend that much on soem wheels might as well go all out an pick up some advans or something. 16-17 lbs for 18x8-8.5's wheels is nuts, and i dunno if any of you have driven an felt the difference in wheel weights but it feels great. but for now. ill rock my $500 torques (thanks wheeldude) hah (ricer) (lol2)

Go ahead and put 3 times that amount in another envelope marked "my car blew up so now I have to pay an exorbitant amount of money to fix it".

Just as stupid, I put a s*** pile of money in an envelope marked "401K" that I might as well be giving it to Bernie Madoff.
Wheels and jeans are giving me a much better return right now.

A men it is what it is. I like getting the real deal because i dont like it when im at a meet and another ms3 with work sits next to me and say " i have the real deal u have the knock off" i dont know about u guys but that pisses me off.

here a good question if you had the money to get work wheel would u get
new 18x9 xd9 or used 18x9 vs-xx both cast the same ?

We have this same debate in every single wheel thread.
It's definitely a case of "to each their own", but I always find it funny when the high-end wheel haters are the ones with a permanent list of "future mods" in their signature. This gives me the impression that a lack of cash flow is the source of their hate. If I couldn't afford high-end wheels, I'd get what I could afford and accept that without putting down the expensive stuff. That was exactly where I was ten years ago when I built my Miata. Now I can afford what I want and I get it. No hate towards Rota, but I wanted the real deal this time around.

Are True Religion or Rock & Republic jeans really worth the $300 price tag when you can get similar jeans at Old Navy for $30? If you like the way they fit and the way you feel wearing them and having a certain stitching on your pockets does it for you, then hell yes it's worth it.

Make sense?

Good point.

I still think many owners don't have an absolute need to buy into forged wheels unless they track A LOT. They'd never realize the full benefit out of a daily driver. Aluminum casting may not be as light or durable, but for a DD it's not a dealbreaker. Most people would never drive their car in a manner that would suffer from the limitations of casting. And most wheel damage on a DD occurs from curbing, scraping, or other forms of negligence. Sure people say they'd never do something like that to a set of 2.5K wheels, but that's why they're called "accidents."

There are plenty of cast sluminum manufacturers that make quality wheels at 50-60% the cost of forged (Enkie being one of them). I would never hate on someone who chose one over the other; but people just need to realize that there's more to a wheel than just a name.

this are not vs-xx they look like them but not the real thing

I disagree, I think mesh wheels look great on our car. However, some look better than others. (ex. BBS LM sexiest rim ever, although that rim could be put on a minivan and still look good )
