Road trip coming up...need advice.

I agree premium won't really hurt any, theoretically overtime it could create some buildup because it is not optimally burning off. A here n there thing won't have any real effect positive or negative, but religiously using premium on an ignition and compression setup optimized for regular has the potential to build up excessive un burnt particulates. I'm a longtime rotary guy n have had several healthy discussions and readings about it on those forums with friends. Bottomline is why waste your money.

All good advice, but mostly overdone.

have a good trip, we demand pictures.

Here is my list:

Cash and Credit cards (Incase something goes bad.)
Bottled Water in small Cooler
DVD's
Music (IPod, Zune, etc.)
Maps OR Navi
Pillow(s)
Dog Bone Pillow (For your neck)
Snacks
Blanket or towel to cover your unbuttoned pants (boom04)
Camera handy, you never know what you'll see along the road
Kids have stuff to do, books, cd's, ipod, etc.

Just as you leave, hit gas station:

Air up tires
Fill up on gas
Check oil
Check trans fluid (If not a sealed trans)
Wash windows and mirrors
check for leaks


SET THE TRIP METER, AND TAKE OFF! Wheeeee!

During:
Make sure, stop and rest, switch drivers, STAY AWAKE and have fun, we demand some pictures! :)

Once you get there:

Check:

OIL
Brakes, better wash brakes!
trans
Fluids (Washer brake etc.)

CHECK YOUR TIRES for bad things (DOH!)

BATTERY !

How can you guys forget to mention BATTERY! take a volt meter or tester if you want.

Update: I went to get my tires rotated and tire pressure checked yesterday. They found a bubble in one of my rear tires which resulted in me purchasing 2 new tires (my old tires CONTINENTAL CONTIEXTREMECONTACTs were discontinued so I couldn't order a replacement. Tire Rack said I should replace both tires to keep the tread patterns the same). A $20 tire rotation looks like it's gonna end up costing me ~$300 after all is said and done.
