Well, we are the island on the far side of eastern Canada. It's not unusual for us to get high winds and rains carried up from hurricanes that the US gets.

That being said, it's usually nothing to cry about.

However, over night parts of the island have been hit hard. There's already been a death near the shores of NFLD due to high waves. And parts of the island have now been declared in a state of emergency and have evacuated the areas

These pics are about a 30 min highway drive from me. This area is closer to water then us. My home is high on a hill, and aways from water so outside of nasty rain and some wind I'm hoping we'll be ok but I am at work now and on the way home to check.

This sucks.

thats no rita.............being from houston i can tell you that they only way to really be able to spot a "rita" is to watch for 20 miles of traffic with thier cars turned off thier moving so slow. I spent 15 hours getting to a place that normally takes me an hour and a half. it took the rest of my family freakin 29 hours due to running out of gas (lucky for them the mp3 isn't a gas guzzler and rescued thier ass).

well, it stopped later last night. somwhere between 150-200 mm rain yesterday alone. Roads are still closed in spots, but storm went around us thank god.
