Hey guys, so eventually im going to get new wheels for my pro.

im going jto go 16 or 17 inch.. my stocks are 15.. and 18 is too big IMO.

which size do you guys reccommend?

and also..

I need help with width and offset.. i dont know a whole lot about rims..

so for example..

The rims i want as of now are 16x8 with a +20 offset.

would that work on my pro? if not please explain why and give me some sizes that may work.

i appreciate it alot guys.

best mazda/protege forum around!!

Those wheel should fit your car, tire size is where its going to play a big part. Get the correct size 205/45/16. 18s will fit, I wouldnt recommend them though as to the the idea of staples rubber bands will barley fit the rims. Rough ride! but handles great! I went with 17s then will lower car. Great look! Like said before test fit before buying!

how will the offset and the width play a role in what i should buy? is there a limit or an average size i should stay in..

The big part about our cars is that our struts hang over our tires. So depending on what wheels size you go with will change tire size. Offset is important to an extent. That will change where the rim sits. Further out past fender or further inside fender. The width is also important. If you put a 205/40/17 on a 9-10in wheels you will get the stretched subaru look. Here's how tires work: 205(width of tire)/40(is 40%of the width of tire)/17(wheels size)

If you got any questions let me know. I may not know much about our cars in detail, but I do know wheels and tires. Lol

Alright thank you guys, i appreciate the help and knowledge...

Its always a good sign when people help out a newbie :D

and i will be posting up in a while for when the time actually comes to buy rims/tires.

Thank you again

Tirerack website shows 38-50mm offset on 16 x 7s with 195/50/16s. My stock wheels are currently running 205/50/16s (Continental Extreme contacts) and they handle/ride great.
