Heel to Toe Shifting is when you put your right foot in a position that it can hit the break and gas quicker. By using your toes you can press the brake and you can use your heel to hit the gas. Its a racing technique that can help with downshifts and prevent you from losing speed taking corners or losing control of the vehicle.

double clutching (or rev matching) is a downshifting method that can make the ride more comfortable on downshifts as well as reduce the wear on the clutch and the vehicle.

If your car is in fourth gear and you want to go to 2nd, you know there is going to be considerable jerk. push in the clutch, put the shifter in neutral, rev the engine to the approx. transmission speed, push the clutch in, put the shifter into 2nd. If done correctly there will be NO jerking and you'll save some life on your clutch.

basically what he said.. to elaborate, heel-toe shifting is basically rev-matching a downshift as you're braking, instead of before or after. you do it as he described i dunno if it's a racing term, because i do it all the time in my normal driving. :)

double clutching is (iirc?) to help let the input shaft get up to speed when you rev the engine up with the clutch engaged while in neutral. it's the exact same as a rev-matched downshift, except you engage and disengage the clutch again while you're in neutral, between gears. all i know is that in practical terms, if you've got a crunchy gear because of synchros going or something, double-clutching it makes it feel much smoother.

just like people who rest their foot on the brake are riding the brakes. in addition to premature wear, they usually piss the hell out of the people behind them.
yeah, this really pisses me off!!!!!!

ya double clutching is basically going into neutral, tapping the accelerator until the revs match your speed and then engaging, mainly used on trucks, but can be used on cars with worn sychro gears to help the grinding

Or non worn synchro gears.. to keep RPMS high while diving into a turn or such so that you can keep power band at peak when you accelorate out of the turn.... esp good for turbo's///

Slipping the clutch-human version: you are applying power, yet some of that power is not getting to the wheels. This is used in very small amounts so you don't give yourself whiplash when starting from a full-stop. It can also be used to keep your car in place on a hill, but I wouldn't reccomend it.

Slipping the clutch-mechanical failure version: If you stomp on the go-pedal, and the reves climb but your actual speed does not, the clutch has outlived its usefulness and needs to be replaced. I experienced this when I first boosted my p5; got about three good runs out of it and that was all she wrote.

Heel-Toe: if you master this, you're cool.

Double-clutch: if you attempt to master this, you're really stupid.
