Ok so I've been traveling through east europe for a while... as I'm sure everyone really wants to know (jerkit) but I've noticed that the Mazda3 is the vehicle of choice out here. I've never seen such a high concentration of them driving around the roads.
Other seemingly popular cars include: Chevy Aveo; Toyota Corolla; Subaru Impreza; and whatever crap Hyundai/Kia and DaiWoo produces.
Naturally affordability is the big issue with the high concentration of economy cars, but is still pretty cool to see lots of Mazdas around. Probably won't come across the MS3 MPS here, but that hasn't stopped me from doing a double take everytime a 5-door rolls by.
On a side note, I've also seen a fair share of Bentley's of all cars... even one pimp'd out light purple with sparkling crystals embroidering the hood and wheels. I guess all the mafia boys want to be just like Paris Hilton.
