Replacing the Speakers in a 2010

Ok, So I picked up a set of Pioneer speakers. Took the door panel off, and to my surprise, there are 4 wires going into the speaker from the harness via a connector. The pioneer speakers only have a + and - which will take up 2 of the 4 wires.

My question is, what are the other 2 wires? Can I assume one is for the ALC function?

Has anyone replaced their speakers in the 2010? If so, I would LOVE to know what you did.

Thanks in advance

Ok....so i tried the passenger side speaker in the front. Installed best kind. I know you were supposed to lower the window before hand to make sure of fitment but these speakers clearly state "Custom fit for Ford/Mazda". The magnet hits the window when there is about 2" of window left to go down. I'm just curious how much more space i'm going to need. Think a 1/2" thick spacer would be sifficient?

These are the speakers I bought in case anyone decides to do the same

hey im a installer at bestbuy, you bought the wrong speakers u needed to get Component speakers, the tweeters are connected to the front speakers, if to take a close look at the harness you'll notice that the other to wires run up to the tweeters lol

for everyone who wants to change there front speakers and haven't yet, these are the speakers u need to get for direct fitment, kicker DS680 these are 6x8 component speakers as u can see in the pic the tweeter are separate from the mids, this is how the stock front speakers and tweeters are set up if u go with the speakers this guy above me got your gonna loose ur tweeters up top, u can almost use a 6.5 component speaker but u need to get a 6x8 to 6.5 speaker bracket

ok i see u have the i sport Mazda 3 well if u ever get the side view mirrors u can do it the way i side soo everyone else that has tweeters needs to doo it the way i said and who ever doesn't need to buy the coaxial speakers like you bought

Actually, all the stock stereo systems have the 6x8s regardless of Sport model or not. The Grand Touring model comes standard with the component speakers as part of the Bose system, and this is an upgrade option on the other models. And that system consists of 6.5s in the door with .8" tweeters in the pillars. The opening on the inside of the door is for a 6x8 regardless of model but the Bose speakers have spacers that make their 6.5s fit. So really, you could make either choice work depending on how much work you want to do and of course some will require the spacers.

I'm going to introduce a question into this speaker replacement thread rather than a solution for anyone. I hope that's okay. I just thought I could fit this in here instead of starting a new one. I hope this thread isn't dead. I have purchased an adapter bracket that will fit a 6x9 speaker into a ford specific 6x8 mounting location. Has anyone attempted this before? I'm just trying to avoid paying for an install that ultimately will not work (I was just informed by the pro installer that they will charge for labor either way wether it's a fit or not). I would love to be able to make the upgrade to the 6x9 with a 3" mounting depth for my 3.
