Hi all...just thinking about replacing my stock speakers in my 2004 Mazda 3 sedan (4 speakers plus 2 tweets)...do I need an amp? I'm hoping NOT too. Also, does anyone know the ohm rating on the 3's speakers? Thanks!

no you don't need to have an amp though if you are going to change the speakers you might as well add more power to get the best out of them... iirc they are rated at some wierd rating like 5.5ohms or something i have a stock speaker sitting on my book shelf at home i will check it out and see what it says on the back.

5.5 ohms? Odd...

Yeah, I'd like to put an amp in but it's primarily my wife's car and her and baby don't really want the amp. :) Plus, it'll save me on the wiring and $ if I don't have to do it. If the speakers are in fact 5.5, what would be looking at for replacements? 4ohms?

Thanks!
