Can I replace my AUX jack with real ipod integration in my MS3? Is it a fairly easy job I could do at home or would I be better off having the dealer do it?

Yes you can, and there are several methods that will do that for you. Check out the stickied thread at the top of the electronics section for details. ;)

no hes talking about changing the 1/8th in stereo jack in the center console to an ipod control.

Adding one of the integration methods would be, in effect, replacing the ACI since he'd have to unplug the ACI for the ipod connector to plug into the HU. If he wants it to come out in the center console then he just needs to run the wire there. What part of what I said is not what the OP was asking?

he doesnt want to run another wire. just repalce the connector in the glove box.

get that bug out of your a$$.

Sorry jflash, nowhere does it say he didn't want to run a new wire, just that he wanted ipod integration.

elderlycoffee, if you're looking at just plugging something into the ACI and having it make your ipod integrated then I'm sorry to say there aren't any options for you. If you're not adverse to running a wire and you want the ipod to connect in the center console where the ACI is then you can remove the rectangular plug for the ACI that reads "AUX IN" and run the wire from an ipod integration method through that hole. To answer your other question it would be very easy to do at home as the 3 comes apart very easily. No reason to go to the dealer.

If you were to go with the audiolink, or the Neo Prolink then you'd still get a 3.5mm input for another device should you want to play from a non-ipod.

Full Ipod Integration

I purchased the Mazda Ipod Integration kit.

I was wondering if there was anyone who has used the stock factory mazda3 radio and found a method to fully integrate the ipod? As it is right now, it can only play playlists saved on the ipod.

Does anyone know if the stock radio can scroll information (like song titles) or has the ability to display full text while browsing, so that I could look at genre, album, or artists etc?

It can play by artists, I don't know why anyone bought that kit, it's really horrible in operation, which is why you only think you can listen to playlists, read the manual a couple hundred times and you might get the jest of that horrible thing.
Scanning up by using the Disc up button, changes from playlist to artist and so on.
If you have the standard audio, go with the AXXESS unit, it displays artists, what song, album, and you can hook up an aux in + XM radio.
It also picks up from where you left off, so if you left off on one of your playlists, it would pick it up from there, and if you we're on an album it would pick it up from there.

Good luck with that Mazda unit, you're going to need it.

Welcome to the boards.

The stock radio can, however most of the ipod integration methods can't. The AXXESS module will display text info. but isn't compatible with '07 and newer 3's.

DICE electronics just released an updated version of the DICE module which emulates a SAT radio so it will display text information on the LCD.
