2002 Protege5
I've become the new owner of a like-new 2002 Protege5. I'm looking to make it look a little more street than rally, and want to remove the roof rack? Can anyone help? Steps, do it yourself, do I need to replace parts, etc...
Thanks,
Ken

Thanks... and help?

Got the PM, thanks alot.

To any that may beinterested in assisting me, here's what I'm hoping to do.

Cold air intake... any suggestions? I'm thinking Injen.
Possibly an exhaust/muffler/tip, but I want to stay away from boy-racer loud types... I'm getting old!

A little engine compartment dressing up... I'd love to find a nice custon bilet style oil cap, preferably in red aluminum or blue, although I heard the MazdaSpeed one looks nice and am looking for more info on how to obtain that.

Computer chip...I'm totally clueless here, so I could all the suggestions you all want to throw my way.

Any other great ideas? I've seen some of what some of you have done... awesome! Some great looking and original cars.

Thanks all...

Ken

There is a sweet, very well done thread on complete removal of the roof rack in here somewhere with excellent pics. Don't do it on a weeknight though, it requires removal of the headliner, among other dozens of pieces.

re-thinking the roof rack

I heard it's somewhat complex, and I'm very paranoid about removing the headliner. I may just remove the crossbars, although I've seen some here think that's the worst look for the car. Otherwise just leave it on unless I can can find someone who knows what they're doing to do it.
