Removing the A/C Vents

I cannot get them off for the life of me. I want to pull them off to make it easier to vinyl wrap the silver lining but I cannot figure out how to get them off. Everyone says they just pop off when you pull them but no matter how hard I pull at them they won't come off...is there a trick or do I need to go lift some weights then try again?

But seriously yeah just pull straight and it will come out.

I think I lifted to many weights, after I managed to get the left one out I moved onto the right and I ended up popping the bottom piece out, which then made it even more fun trying to get the rest of the vent out lol
