removing cv axle from transmission?

having a hard time removing the cv axle from the transmission on my '94 protege. It is the passenger side axle and the inner axle will not come out of the transmission. are there anytips for getting this part out of there? the driver's side one came out very easily and was an easy fix. checked the passenger side when i replaced the drivers side and there was nothing that warranted repair (the seals were still good and everything, no noises, etc.) just went out on me one day while pulling into a gas station, ball bearings on the ground and everything, was a big mess. but if anyone can give me any pointers on this it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

if its anything like the driver's side on a 3rd gen protege then there is a c-clip (sort of) that you just need to pop out. we just pried on the exel itself, against the transaxle casing, adn pop, she came out.

but then again, your 94 could be totally different

Pry it out? (not too hard ofcourse) I didn't have any problems on my 92 changing the original axles, I suppose it's luck of the draw.

I just used the lugnut tool that came with the jack, it has a stake thing on the opposite end which I used to just wedge it right out..

tried prying it out for awhile, even broke a pry bar while trying to get it out, was just wondering if i was missing something while doing it?

I've heard about several Proteges not wanting to give up the r/side axle....
There's 2 options; you can keep on prying on it, but so far that's not working.

Or... since you have the left side axle off, try this; get a long very thin screwdriver, insert it into the hole on the left side that the left axle came out of. (here's the tricky part>>>) Make sure you have a flashlight and can see in the hole, put the tip of the screwdriver against the end of the right side axle, which you should be able to see in the hole. Get a hammer and hit the handle of the screwdriver(don't go Rambo on it either), and the axle should just pop right out.
I had the same thing happen on one of mine. Pried and pried with no luck. Pulled the left side, stuck the screwdriver in, and one hit w/ the hammer was all it took.

I have beat the hell out of my MX tranny trying to get the axle out with no luck as you have had. I have even tapped it from the inside... and still nothing...

Good luck in getting it off. I am about ready to split the casing or destroy the axle.... (as I dont need either one really)

got mine out, it required a specialty tool we got at Advance Auto Parts it looks like the end of a wrench and it fits around the axle and is wedged sdo as you pound it in it pulls the axle out. the axle was out within 10 minutes of using the tool.
