My mother-in-law is looking to get my father-in-law a remote starter for Christmas (last minute I guess). They live in Londonderry. Does anyone know a good shop near there?

Also, if anyone has experience with different brands that would help too. This is one area of electronics I don't have experience with.

they usually come with good installation instructions chris.......i know you can go it!

Yeah, if I install it...I have to provide technical support too. :(

Most places that sell them offer installation of course that is saying you purchase it from a store and not online.

Edit: If you install it properly you wont have to have tech support other then are th batteries good? lol Oh btw cars that have a programable key require a programmed key and another box inorder to install the remote start.

It would be going in a 2005 Camry. If I installed it myself, I would like something that is as plug-and-play as possible, perhaps something that can be integrated into the bus system...and I certainly don't want him to have two controllers so it should also have a keyless entry function (pretty sure most do these days but just in case).

Beings that its that new of a car the key will more then likely be a programmed key. The reason for the other box and key is becuase the key is required to start the car becuase of the chip. (I'm sure you already knew that but wanted to state it for other people)

Yeah...been doing some reading and I'm pretty sure his car has a programmed key.

Seriously I don't think you will find a plug and play system which means you will have to tap into some wires.

Edit: My gf 6i parking lights flash on and off when the remote start is engaged, but that might be due to the alarm system on it.

You can always ask the guys at the local best buy and see what they have to say. I'm going with that you will have to tap into the hazards and ingition wires to install it.

Personally I wouldn't trust Best Buy with a broken transistor radio from 1968, but that's just me.

Give a call to some local mom & pop type car audio/security places up there and see what they have to say. Obviously you can't tell everything about a place over the phone, but you will be able to tell which have some experience and/or which ones are willing to at least talk to you. If they're not willing to chat, they're not willing to earn your business. (wink)

A quick Yahoo Yellow Pages search got me these:

Audio In Motion (603) 437-2929 Derry, NH
Lethal Sounds (603) 622-1930 Manchester, NH
Car Tunes Etc (603) 598-0900 Hudson, NH
Auto & Accessory Experts Inc (603) 622-2866 Manchester, NH http://www.aaexperts.com/
Gold Seal Audio Wurks (603) 889-8555 Hudson, NH

Again, I haven't dealt w/any of these folks, but a quick call should tell you where you might be able to start.

Boomers in Nashua, NH, Which isnt too far of a drive from the manchester area, Im from a little more southwest from there, so my preferred place is Mobile Audio Concepts in Keene, NH, but thats about an hour drive from Manchester..They do installs of CompuStar, the guy that does the installs does the best work I have ever seen when it comes to wiring. I love my remote starter, which was installed by them.

Lethal sounds isn't bad. I actually bought a carbon fiber hood from for my MSP. Boomers (now called Audiolink) is pretty good too, from what a remember a bit pricey (my friend use to work there). Theres a guy in Lee (Mr. tint) that specifically does tinting, but I know for a fact that he does remote starters as well and he does really good work.

The shop you probably want is Sound Service. They do most of the dealerships installs in Manchesters.

I will warn that I have not used them in a long time.
I would say tweeter but I dont know anyone there anymore as most people have left.
I know the guys at boomers in Nashua which is a decent group.
