Trailblazer SS AWD ....Still a Mazda Junkie Though.
Ok,I am going to get my GF a remote start/alarm set-up for her car for christmas but i have a few questions.I was going to get a Code Alarm set-up from CC but after reading about the CA series that they carry,it requries that you buy your desired remote start set-up as well as a master module. They guy at CC said that this is requried for all of their CA series alarms...OK,no biggie. That comes out to about $180 for the one I am looking at when I actually thought it was going to be $100.Not to mention the fact that I still have to buy the GM Passlock Module that will run me about $31-52 depending on where i get it from.SO I check out ebay to see what they have, and I find a CA-640 which is a code alarm 2 way remote start with that is about $120....but according to what the guy from CC said,"All CA series alarms require the Master module" but yet this system say nothing of the sort and i cannot find anything saying the master module is required for this unit on code alarms web site....any one have a clue or any suggestions....I also considered a Viper 771 or 971 but they are kinda pricey as well....Compustar also crossed my mind as well as a Clifford.
I just want a basic remotoe start/alarm set-up that is really simple to operate so It doesn't take me for ever to show her how to operate it..
BTW,I will be installing it myself.
What do you guys have for me for info and suggestions?
Thanks
Matt

Code USED to have a master module setup, but I'm pretty sure that now the new models don't need it. I'll be able to tell you for positively tomorrow as my 670 should be in. I'll be swapping it with my 7600. I'm really just about positive that the pc module is not necessary with the new alarms. Used to be that either the PC10 or PC30 was the bulk of it, and theory went that you could upgrade the brains to handle remotestart, etc lateron down the road, but they eventually figured out that you might as well jsut swapout the whole damn thing as the modular setup wound up being jsut about as expensive as a full new alarm anyway. The PC30 was the only one worth a damn because the 10 didn't really support any upgrades features. etcetc...

At anyrate to answer your Q, I'm 99% positive that you will not need anyother modules. I will update tomorrow evening.

Some of the CA's for sure take a master module...I have seen it in person tonight at CC BUT,the ones they carry are supposed to be CC only deals where they only carry those models ,no one else...If thats the case then do the other CA series alarms require the master module...If they do then they are not a good deal and i will prob go with the Viper instead...bout the same price and more options I do beleive.I will post what i am looking at and if anyone can get me good info it would be appreciated!
Thanks
Matt
Check this out....is this everything I will need minus the GM passlock bypass module?

Just get the Viper 560XV. Its a solid unit that isn't terribly expensive ($215-$250) over the counter and will do everything you need.

have a viper 791XV; alarm, starter, TT, 2-way com, and all the bells and whistles. love it.....

oops totally forgot, indeed you need no plug in mdule for codes anymore. the one you listed should be most of everything save for whatever relays, etc you windup needing.

Somebody here has to work at Circuit city and know what t he best deal for the money is....I would rather just walk in the door and buy then have to get it off ebay....I just feel a little safer that way.

I've always had very goodluck with code, but that's just the only ones my shop deals with, (I was a groupie before I worked there, the installer's my friend and he's amazing) Most everycompany's the same stuff anymore, just pick a pretty one with a decent price.
