Mazda CX-7
LOVE THE CX-7!!! Not a CX-7 Issue!

So I purchased a Electric Blue Touring CX-7 w/tech about a week ago. The vehicle is great and I want to drive it all day long! My issue is that the dealer I purchased it from is just plain skuzzy (if that is a word). I had some personality conflicts with a sales person during the negotiations so another sales person took over and they found the vehicle I wanted for the price I wanted and I purchased. During the purchase process the owner of the store came over and spoke with me and told he wanted to change my idea of the dealer because I told t hem that I did everything I could to find the vehicle I wanted from another dealer instead of theirs. One of the reasons why I purchased from this dealer is that there is only one Mazda dealer in town (colorado springs) and the next one is 60 miles away. I tried to find the electric blue somewhere else but I couldnt but somehow they could. Anyways, I figured it was a good sign the owner was trying to make up for the issues I had during negotiations but I dont think my sales person wanted to work with me. He was supposed to call me to see how I liked the CX-7 but the only call I received from him was the day after asking me to come in and sign the check I forgot to sign. So I figure ok, who cares, he is just a sales person. So, I send the guy an email asking how much the clear bra is for the CX-7 and he writes back:

Clear Bra usually goes for $499 on the sticker rob said to do it for $200 for you. Let me know if you want that added on.

I figured this was a good deal. Later in the day I got a call from service about scheduling the homelink mirror and fog lights install that I added to the sale. During the conversation I asked if I could add the clear bra to the order and he said yes and it would be $160. I asked him if he was sure it was $160 and he said yes because they do so many of them. So, I write back to my sales person about the price asking if the $160 product is the same as the one he quoted for $200 and he responds:

It's the same product. Service was swamped - so I asked rob what we sell the Clear Bra for and off the top of his head he said $200. I'm glad it's lower and not higher.
On the new cars it's just additional profit. People always want to negotiate price so it gives us a little more room to work.

Ok, so is it me, should I really have to continue negotiating with my dealer once I am a customer and want items added to my car?

I really want to keep the CX-7 but I dont want to drive 60 miles to avoid my dealer for service?
I mean WTF cant they treat me like I paid $30k for a car? I got more service when I bought my Chevrolet Cavalier for like $14k!!!

I know this may sound stupid, but I am honestly thinking about not going with Mazda, taking bluebook and getting a different brand from a company that treats me right... but I really like the CX-7...

I am sure this post will get flamed, but I just needed to vent...

Unfortunately, it sounds like the salesman you are dealing with is a real a$$. Fortunately, just because the sales team does not want your business, does not mean that the service department feels the same way. They are two different entities (almost), so don't dismiss them from the get-go. From the sound of it, it sounds like they just saved you $40!

That said, I would keep them on a short leash. Let them know the problems you are having with the sales person and they may just go out of their way to keep you happy!

I would also do everything in my power to make the sales man's life hell. Talk to his boss, call him often to ask questions that you know the answer to, meet him face to face on a Saturday when you do have more issues and make a scene if necessary (especially if he is working on another sale). They have a lot to do to regain your trust, but it sounds like the manager wants to work with you. Good luck!

I work on the sales floor at Sill-TerHar Mazda in Broomfield and my wife works in service. Please feel free to contact me on the PM and I'll give you my personal cell phone number. You may feel free to contact me at any time with any questions or just for a second opinion. We are the only Gold Cup Mazda dealership in Colorado. We got this based on customer reviews from both sales and service. Come buy your next Mazda from me and I'll make it worth your time and buy the gas for the trip.

P.S. I own two CX-7's (wife's and mine) and mine is a blue w/tech also. Nice choice!

Keep the car and find a good service dept. at another Mazda dealership...it seems slightly ridiculous to get rid of your brand new car at KBB price (lose money) just because you don't care for your local Mazda service dept.

I would also suggest getting service at a Ford "Quick Lane" service dept. We have these in KS and they do a great job working on Mazda, Ford, Lincoln, Mercury vehicles. I've switched service depts. a few times and when I find one I like I stick with them because you develop a working relationship with them and they know your car and your expectations. Good luck finding a better service dept. but don't sell your car because of one bad dealership...

Update: I am having them run the turbo lag update on my vehicle and fix some scratches and I have to say the service department is so much better. I sent the owner of the dealer an email telling him that I would be sending in the feedback letter with all negatives and then a customer service rep called me and I told him that I didnt want to deal with service and tell them everything the dealer needed to do with the car and I wanted a loaner car. I showed up for my appointment and they gave me the loaner car (nice mazda3) and have had it for 3 days now (major scratches). The service department calls me twice a day to give me an update on whats going on. it seems they want my business compared to sales wanting a repeat buyer...

Sounds kind of like my experiences with my dealer... sales was absolutely terrible, service has been pretty good actually.

I drove 40 miles to buy my CX7 because the local dealers lot lizards were such ass hats that I kept checking with dealers until I found one 40 miles away that acted like they wanted both my sale and my service business.

I have had one problem. When I went there to get the IPod link installed as per my sales agreement (included) the ditzy woman (loser) tried to charge me for parts and labor. Then said I was lying when I informed her it was to be installed free per purchase agreement. Even when I showed her my papers listing IPod she refused to take the car unless I signed agreeing to paying for it.

I left, found the Dealer Manager and the Salesman and had a short chat. The manager came back with me and ripped her a new one and bent over backward apologizing to me. She now avoids me.

So aside from her I have had no problems.

I ran into my local dealer a few months later when shopping for a new car for my wife. He asked when I was going to buy that CX7. I pointed over at mine parked there and told him I already did. He asked why I did not buy it from him. I told him that I was going to buy from the dealer who offer the best price and the level of support I wanted. That he did not meet either one.(loser)

hahaha, If that was my Mazda Dealer that next thing she would have been ripping would be envelope with an UNemployment check inside. The nerve of her calling you a liar even after showing her the Contract stating that you had paid for the Install and adapter. Shes just not the kind of person that I would want to deal with.
