Refreshened Mazda5/Premacy now on Japanese website

I see that the inboard armrest is in for the passenger side, but can't quite figure out from the interior shot how the storage bin has/hasn't been adapted to suit. It looks like a tight squeeze between the two armrests...

Front row storage seems to be no longer there. That would suck.

no mention of a manual transmission in the japanese specs. only the 5 spd AT is listed under the 2.3 motor. Does this mean the manual is out the door for the US?? If so the '08 just fell off my list of potential cars and I'll have to somehow find an 07 touring... pretty soon it'll be impossible to get a manual transmission in the states....

The manual transmission is available in the U.S. for the 2008 Mazda 5 Sport and Touring.

just checking out the japan premacy page, and ran across a pic of a seat configuration very much like the "refresh" mode of the honda fit. Has that always been available on the mazda5?

Yes, you can put your Mazda 5 in "Refresh" seat mode by sliding the front passenger seat forward, removing the head rest, lay the seat all the way down, and plop yourself in your second row passenger seat Lazyboy.

I do this on our 5 often.

Not in NA

Actually you can put your Mazda5 seats in the "Refresh" mode. The only seat config that is not available to the NA market is the second row middle "Jumpseat". The NA market got the cupholder/bin assembly in the touring models, and the sport models have nothing there but a walkthru to the rear row. However, I have found the cupholder/bin assembly has gotten in the way once in a great while in our touring model.

Still waiting for clear pics of the center console with HVAC vents for the 2nd row seats..... the dash LOOKS similar enough to ours, looks like they just changed the center stack.

Cool. Never done it on mine, but Would the central console be on the way of the driver's armrest for the NA 06s or 07s?

This one on the pic does not seem to have a console :(

i think i do like the new tail lights.... i think....(uhm)
i just found this site with drawing of concept design of Premacy.
check out the tail lights on those concept pics.
HERE is the site. sorry its in Japanese...

anyone else notice that the refreshed mazda5 no longer has the roof rails that were available on the UK/JP editions of the vehicle ...

REFRESH mode?! Looks like "MATING" mode to me! :D Well...I guess mating is refreshing... (butthump)

LOL. My guess is that "Hump Mode" didn't make Honda's short list of possible seat options either :D

(hitit2) ...twice! (eek2)

Interesting, didn't really noted the taillights design of the 08 vs. the MX-Flexa concept. Here are some pics I found in my old HD. It is funny to see how some things get around from concept to production. Now, here I would think that the white "stripes" are the reverse lights, not the LED ones. Oh well, go figure.

Liking the paddle shifters and the second row outboard armrests.
Not sure yet about the tails.

thanks for the headsup HotRodSaint!!!

I was just hunting-n-pecking thru the Web-Tune (don't read Japanese), I noticed a bunch of accessories that are not available to those in NA. Kind of sucks. Anyways, those that interested me the most were ipod adapter stuff, and the interior lighting accents. Has anyone seen whether the ipod interface will be standard in the 08's?
Anyone know the possibility of getting accessories available in Japan installed in NA?

first...benfolio i agree with you. I dig the LED taillights and they would look sweet on a black 5.
I also like the center console and passenger side arm rests.

The things that gets under my skin the most is the gauges. I hate the "puke green" gauges we have now.
