Red oil light coming on...

:
2008 mazda 3i saloon, 2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege
I just recently had my (2.0l) 3's oil changed at the dealer and it's been driving great; but after it's been driven for a little while and I go to stop and let it idle for a few minutes the oil light (a little can) starts blinking then stays on. When I rev it up to anything above 1800-ish rpm it goes away but it will stay on below that rpm. I have made sure that the oil is at the right level, as well as turned the car off and back on with no results... so after seaching the forum for a while i have found nothing like this so has anyone got an idea?
Oh yeah and it has 20k on it.

Do not drive the car, call the dealer and ask them tow the car to their shop to fix the problem. The light shouldn't come on with the engine running unless you have low or no oil pressure.

Yup have the dealership take care of it. Call them ASAP. Also tell them you want a loaner...lol

Unfortunately, by the time that light starts coming on it's often too late.

Do not drive the car, except to bring it to the dealer (hopefully it's still under warranty!). Low oil pressure is one of those things that can ruin a motor quick-like if it's ignored.

Thanks for the advice everyone; I definately will do this tomorrow... As well, I was just wondering if anyone has seen this before? Because I want to say that the light comes on intermittently and only after about 15-20 minutes of city driving.

I have seen the light come on in some other make cars, but not a Mazda. It's not normal for any car and indicates a problem.

It's possible the sender is defective giving you a false light but you don't know if the oil pressure is low or the sender is bad. A 2008 with 20k miles it should be covered by warranty. It's best to let the dealer solve the problem since they serviced the car.

Driving the car isn't a good idea.
