Rebat Question and New Owners....

Well I finally, after reading this board for about a month, test drove a 03.5 MSP today. However, Im very ready to buy but I am a little hesitant, mainly because Im trying to get the best deal possible, so I have a question to people who just purchased one recently. The prices that you are getting them for, is that with the rebate factored in? Mainly I was going to take the rebate and use it to pay off a credit card payment which would leave me with one less monthly payment.

Also, how much is the rebate exactly, is it 1500 or 2500? That one link from intellichoice says 2500, but all other sites and the dealer is saying 1500?

I talked to a salesman today, who didnt really seem interested in selling to me at all, qouted me at 19500, for a 2003 mica. I told him i have friends getting them for 18K out the door, and thats not even taking the rebate, but rather the financing. He said he would call me back and run a few numbers, yadda yadda, havent heard from him yet, so Im gonna go to a few other dealers and see what I can get for a titanium.

Anywayz, thanks for the input guys.

I have no answer, but I do have another question...

I know for some cars they have the "Mazda loyalty bonus" if you already own a Mazda. Does this work for the MSP as well?

I thought the $2500 was now eligable on the MSP but possibly only on the 2003's not the 2003.5's.

I would really like to know the truth myself.

I loyalty was only on the Mazda 6 when I was shopping for my P5. The Graduation bonus is on everything I thought.

Well...

I found out that "supposedly" Intellichoice screwed the pooch by including the MSP in the 2500.00$ link.
However, the dealer my brother was working with basically gave him close to the same deal by throwing in the S-Plan discount and the 1500.00$ off. Either way the dealer gets reimbursed from Mazda or Ford so it doesn't really matter to them all that much. Money now or money later.
He got his car for 17640.00$ out the door. All in all not a bad deal and the MSP can be had for anywhere from 17-18+ thousand now. It all depends upon the dealer.
When I bought I had to pay 19k plus. There were no incentives and they wouldn't give the S-plan. They did take 1000.00 off but
other than that I paid close to full price.
He did buy a 2003 although I think the Titanium 2003.5 they had in stock could have been had for close to the same price perhaps just a few hunred higher.
They seemed to really want to sell the MSP's they had in stock. According to the salesman the MSP was taking a few sales away from the RX-8's and they would rather sale the 31k $ car -vs- the 20k $ car.
So hopefully you can get a good deal. Play all the angles and see what happens.

According the salesman at the dealership both my brother and myself bought from they would be willing to throw in the loyalty bonus for an MSP.
So just ask and stand firm on it. My brother is a bit of a pit bull negotiator, a nice pit bull, but firm none-the-less.

Awesome! I'll give that a shot... One other thing, what's the S-plan?

good deals on MSP's

I am Yashooa's brother. I work for an auto finance company. The company I work for has an agreement with most dealers that we pay a $100 over invoice for any car we purchase.

The Dealer decided to give me the car for flat invoice of $18,748.00. Then he threw another $1500 off (rebate) and used it for a down payment as well.

I made him show me through the Mazda website (with him logged in as a dealer) to prove to me the $2500 rebate did not count towards the MSP, it did not.

So here how it played out, I purchased the car for $18650.45 and that includes TT&L. That is what alot of people refer to as the, out the door price.

Where you have to be cafeful with dealers, is that they will take alot off the price of the unit and then work alot of backend money back into the loan i.e. extended warranty, payment insurance, gap insurance.

What you will want to do is bust their balls even if you have to leave the dealership to come down off the price. Then once you go back make sure they apply all pertaining rebates to the price as well. Then do not allow them to add things back on in the paperwork unless you really want to buy the added products.

Also being in the biz, make sure that they give you best interest rate that will apply . It took me about an hour of disagreeing with the dealer on the APR for my wife (keep in mind he knew I was in the biz). Alot of times they will stick you with a finance company they have a friendship with. So you might take an APR that is much higher than what you can really get.

Also never trade in anything, if possible they will work as much of that trade back into the note as possible. Sell it yourself or keep it as supplemental transportation.
