Rear wiper not wiping top of window

I bought my 2013 Mazda 5 used. Since I received it the top of the wiper swipe is not touching the window. It does not seem to curve to fit the window. The local parts stores all carry only one blade to fit it so I do not have any option to tray a different one without going to the dealer. Does the OEM Mazda blade clear the whole width of the blade? Is it just the way it is do to the rear window curve? Is there any aftermarket brand blade that may work?

There is a thread somewhere that discusses the rear wiper. Long story short, aftermarket blades are not the same curve as the OEM blades and it is best to use OEM rear blades

I think this is the thread Swenny is referring to:

My post is #50 in the thread (Oct 2015)... hope it will help.
This is a very helpful thread. My '14 MZ5 most likely had the original rear wiper blade and rubber until this morning. Wiped so-so. Local dealer has wiper blades on sale this month. Somehow the Mazda OEM part (C247-67-330) which is a 12 inch blade was not in stock. But they had Mitsubishi part# MN127768 as they stock Mitsubishi OEM parts & accessories too. Was told it was identical to Mazda C247-67-330 -- just a repackaged item essentially. I don't know if it is but looks very similar and works great. I kept the old blade just in case. According to this thread, Trico 12-A, which is widely available including at Amazon.com, may not work perfectly even though the rubber should be the right fit for the OEM blade. May use the original blade with fresh rubber for next replacement.

Yep. Been there, done that. Even the custom Trico is not as good.

It never occurred to me there was an OEM wiper available! I just assumed the top of the window couldn't be wiped. I will for sure try to seek one out when I next change my wiper blades!

The problem is not the rubber insert. The OEM wiper housing distributes force evenly. You can also try yo "bend" the two metal guides to match (or more) the curve of the rear glass. That should help but the key is to keep the OEM wiper arm.

I have had good service from the Trico "Exact-Fit" rear wiper. They are great when new, but only last a few months. The poor rear wiper is subjected to pretty harsh traetment back there...

Does the rear wiper go bad from heavy use or non use ?

I have used it twice in 54 month of ownership

I went and tried it now and it works perfect , mine is oem and has never been replaced

There is a plastic tab on the rear wiper housing that you have to trim so the plastic housing can bend more + you can try replacing the spring for a stronger one.

My Trico wiper is gradually getting worse, despite being 3 months old...
Does anyone know on the top of their head how much the genuine wiper costs from the dealership?

Last time I bought one, think it was right around $10... due to get another, might stop in today.
