Rear view mirror -movable?

I have the homelink mirror and I'm not sure if they just installed it lower than normal but lately it's low hung height has really annoyed me. I'm 6'2" and have to duck down below the mirror to see when rounding a right corner or curve. The mirror is just at the edge of the factory tint. Can I move the mirror- I mean somehow pry it loose, move it up and restick it? Will it adhere to the tint? Will the adhesive hold after being moved and how would I pull it off the glass?

I cannot speak for certainty for the Homelink mirror but most mirrors I've seen are basically the same.

The mirror is held on to the windshield by a metal mount that is glued on. If you remove the mirror from that mount (usually a screw holds it on but my 5 has the normal mirror and it is simply "clipped".) you should be able to lever that mount off.

Go to the auto parts store or Wal-mart and get some mirror mount adhesive and reglue it back on.

Don't know about your 5 but mine has a black "tint"? under the mount that makrs where the mount goes. If you move the mount that may be an eyesore or maybe it just comes off....I don't know.

All-in-all, it's a pretty simple procedure. :)

Not sure about yours, but most mirrors have a two-ball joint set-up. Is it still too low if you move the arm at the joint closest to the windshield, then tilt the mirror back down using the joint at the mirror to adjust for sight?

Good luck getting that mount off the windshield without breaking the glass. I'm sure you all know how easy a windshield cracks with even a small amount of pressure in a concentrated area of the glass.

And if by some chance you do get it off with no damage to the glass, don't try to reuse it, because you'll never get it to adhere properly with the adhesive residue on it. You can buy a new mount without buying a new mirror. They're a universal size most of the time.

Am I missing something I have Automatic Wipers and my mirror is mounted on a base not like the old days of metal supports......

hehe, thanks for the suggestion. I had no idea the mirror had the two ball join system. Now the mirror can be moved upward, much thanks :)

(shocked) See folks, I'm not as think as you dumb I am.
