According to Mazda, ...

I have done this search many many times.

1) There is no standard bulb type (that's what Mazda says)
2) They are wedge type bulbs
3) Supposedly certain brands of a 7440 bulb will fit. The post that had that info (I don't know where it is) stated that he had purchased two pairs, one fit, one did not
4) In Texas at least, we are allowed to have White or Amber or any color in between for the fronts, and Amber or Red or any color in between for the rears.

If anyone knows of any white turn signal bulbs that are NOT blue that match the color of the headlighs, can you please let me know?

And if anyone find RED bulbs that will fit in the rear, please let me know as well?

the front turn signal bulbs are 1157 or 1156. (whichever is the double filiment bulb) i installed apc hyper-white bulbs in the front, and the shine bright white like when on, and they look almost blue when off.

the back turn signals (on the sedan at least) are some funky bulb type. they look like the front turn signal bulbs (only single filiment) but the prongs that hold the bulb into the socket are oriented like nothing i have been able to find, yet. i was hoping to replace them with similar bulbs as my front turn signals.

I changed my bulbs in the rear turn signals, I used Toucan amber Xenon 7440's and they work fine. I tried using APC LED bulbs for my other bulbs and none of them worked properly.

I just changed my rear blinkers to red yesterday. I used Raybrig R143. They look pretty tight. I had 2 of my club members and myself line up and turn on our hazard lights. One had the stock amber light the other had hyper white and I had the red. I looked nutz!!! Hope this helps.

to answer the first question is yes they are illegal to have in NJ. turn signals must me amber but, MOST cops won't bother you about them.

I have had them on for 2 month and cops haven't stopped me once. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
