Rear tail light replacement procedure, help needed

:
CX-5, fwd auto
Hi,

My passenger side rear tail light is broken, but unable to find step by step procedure to do it myself. Dealer said it is half hour work, so this should not be that difficult. (Not the rear lights in the hatch)

Could anyone assist?

Also TYC Branded tail light is it okay quality?

Thanks

The procedure to replace the tail light (rear quarter panel, not tail gate) is fairly easy (even easier if you have the service manual found on this forum). In summary, here are the steps (in words):

1. Open trunk, and locate the cover panel for the tail light, pop if off using a trim removal tool.
2. Disconnect the sockets from the bulbs inside the light assembly
3. With the cover off, you should be able to locate the 3 nuts/fasteners holding the light assembly to the body. Remove them.
4. Pull the assembly off (in the direction directly to the rear of the car - straight back), it will take some effort as there is a clip on the pointy end of the assembly towards the front.
5. When replacing the light, you will need to align the clip and a long pin to the correct holes.

Good luck!
