Rear sun shades

Are sun shades available for either the rear doors or tailgate? Yes, the window tinting helps to some extent and those dinky shades you can buy at Babies R Us are, well, dinky in the giant rear door windows.

I'm thinking of something similar to....

I had rear sunshades on my old BMW-5.
I haven't seen anything such shade for hatchback yet.
Second, for the rear doors, Highlanders and Pilots (and many minivans) have them.
My comment on them is this:
While they might be useful when new, they make noise when they are old (like everything on earth).
These noise can be very annoying from inside door panels. The hooks could break (made of plastics)
after years of sunshine baking them. More stuff to break and fix.

I am not sure I want them on my next CX9 if it is available. But, that is just me.

There is a sunshade available for the VW Golf/GTI for the rear hatch window. It doesn't seem very practical though, since the window is on the small side.

While your points are valid, there is a lot of other plastic stuff inside a car that is subject to temperature extremes.

LOL, this thread brought me directly to this question....(speaking from experience)

What would you rather have: a few squeeks or random noises while driving or a screaming infant/toddler because the sun in blaring directly into thier eyes?

Rawyzf,
I see your points, but my kids are bigger now.

Back in the days when I bought my BMW-5, I loved this sunshade option for $500.
(such a deal for three shades, two manual on the sides, one auto at the back)
My salesman actually cautioned me that some of his customers came back asking for
removal of the shades due to the noise. I went with the option however, and was very happy with them.

I am not against sunshades. Just to point out the downside of having them.

I hear you, I plan to avoid them if I can.
