rear door speakers

The rear doors don't have speakers, just holes for speakers.
Unless the previous owner custom installed them, including running speaker wire, which is much harder than it seems. You either have to destroy the molex in the door that houses power option wires, or you have to drill a hole through the sheet metal of the door and rip into the rubber hose.
I tried the molex idea. Got frustrated, then drilled a hole in my door. Come to think of it, drilling the hole was pretty easy, it just took me a few hours to give up on the molex idea.

Then again, it might be part of a 'premium sound' package your dealership offered. If this is the case, I would take the rear door off to make sure.
I bought my speakers from crutchfield and they came with instructions to remove the door panel and install them. Also came with wire harness for easy plug and play installation.
Do you need help removing the panel?

So some p5's do and some don't? I haven't done anything to my beast with audio but I shall look into this...
i know for a fact that my rear doors have no sound coming out of them. i think the rear speckers came with the premium sound package but thats just a guess. unless for some reason my spares arent hooked up to my deck. is it hard to take of the door panels? i have speakers i wanted to put in there anyways

P5's have rear door speakers. 6.5's fit in them just perfect. the front doors are the 4x6's.

Oh, p5's don't have a rear deck, do they?
I have a pair of infinity reference 6822cf's that fit the rear doors, if you would like. Also comes with wiring harness for plug and play

^ Have you really looked inside the door, I remember one of the wires being pinkish coloured, not so sure about the other one. They should be there.
And no, unless you want to cut into the cargo cover the P5s don't have rear decks. A solid deck would kind of kill the point of having a hatch.

And yes, in my car (2002 protege sedan), I have removed the rear door panels, and there are infact no wires for speakers there

Oh, and the rear doors are such a b**** to get off that the stock ones will stay until they rot away as far as I care.
If you dont have sound from the rear and theres no wires.. your car is weird..lol
There were 4 speakers stock.. dunno why you wouldnt have them.. there was no audio upgrade offered from the factory that I know of.

We clarified this:
The p5's have rear door speakers,
while the sedans have rear door speaker holes w/ no speakers, and in their stead sedans have rear deck speakers.
Sorry on my part, I thought p5's had deck speakers for some reason. (shrug)

I know. I'm not going to lie to you guys, I've never ACTUALLY seen a p5 in person. Just pictures of them on here (rlaugh)

the audio section here has good stuff. check it out!
also, i just replaced my 6x8's up front with pioneer 6.5s. they come with the adapter. i had to dremmel out the lip on the doors protective cover on the inside so they would fit. they stuck out a bit more than stock, but otherwise they fit nicely. and i wouldnt even bother with the rear. just a waste of time and energy. (they are blocked by the seats pretty much anyways)
