Rear Bumper Protection

My car is often used for hauling more than just people so I've been concerned that I would scratch the rear bumper when loading and unloading stuff through the hatch.

I saw these bumper step plates on eBay. They are an OEM Mazda accessory. If you go to Mazda's web site under Mazda3 accessories they are shown but it doesn't indicate that they fit the MS3. The guy at the dealership selling them indicated verbally and on his eBay listing that they will work on the MS3 so I bought some for $35 including shipping.

Got them today and installed them in a few minutes following the instructions. They aren't that great looking but they beat a bunch of scratches on my bumper. I think they probably look as good as some mud flaps I've seen people raving about.

Those bumper gaurds look fine, and they will definitely protect your paint. I've been considering getting as set as well.

I have a set on mine as well, helps protect a lot, and the look has grown on me. I did pay less at the dealer though. Lesson: ebay rips you off.

When I bought my car, I already had a list of accessories I wanted right off the bat, so I had the sales manager write a We Owe for the bumper guards, windshield shade, and the trunk net as a condition for me buying the car. I use the hell out of my trunk, too, and the guards have saved my bumper from several scratches already. And I actually like how it looks compared to a bare bumper.

I thought $35 wasn't that bad since it included shipping and of course I used Live Search and got 25% ($8.75) back as well making my true cost $26.25. Using that same method of shopping I bought a Cobb SRI last night and got it for $142.25 shipped.

I didn't post this to brag about the cost though. I thought some folks might not be aware these things existed and how they look.

I have a clear bra on the front of my car but decided against it for the rear. it will still show scratches but it will be in the bra instead of the paint, it could hold up but the plastic was cheaper than the bra and is a bit more rugged.

I got mine for less at the dealer that I bought my car from. I haven't installed them yet, was gonna wait for the springtime to put them on and take the side moldings off all at once.

eeh tomorrow should be warm enough. its going to be 43!! i would hold off though on the side moldings

The dealer I bought my car from gives me a discount if I go back there to buy parts, believe it or not, doesnt make a difference to me.

As mazda wholesale parts on this forum has the bumper cover is $28 but I got it at the dealer so no shipping, jeez. I didnt say it was much cheaper, just not the hassle of ebay.

Are you sure you're not just mad your dealer charged you $50 bucks?

I'm convinced, I'm going to go get some on my next dealer visit.
