Rear badge configuration

Looks good, but the 323 on the hatchback is sacrilage :D.

I've seen pics of just a straight up "323" badge on the hatchback on an unmodded EDM BJFW so I dunno, maybe the 323f bade was just with a certain option package?

3rd generation (BJ chassis):

4 door sedan: Proteg (North America), Familia (Japan and some other Asian countries), 323 (some parts of Europe, rest of Asia, Oceania, some Latin America countries), Allegro (Colombia Venezuela and possibly some other South American countries), Etude (some African countries), 323 Proteg (Taiwan and Thailand)

5 door hatchback: Proteg 5 (North America), 323 (Western Europe), 323F (Mid and Eastern Europe, Honduras), Familia S-Wagon (Japan), Astina (Oceania), Astina NU (Hong Kong), Etude SportsWagon (some African countries), 323 M-RV (Taiwan)

Taken from Edwins FAQ...

Looks like I'm safe...

:p

deja vu? we had that discussion before...

if you got a hatch: 323F, if you got a sedan:323

I know, that was my argument, but Edwin's on the ProtegeFAQ beat me down :(

why? edwins faq isn't flawless.. the point is: the familia series was always called "the mazda 323" by the people in eurodisney since it was introduced like 30y down here... and it didn't matter if it was the hatch or the sedan or the coupe (earlier versions)... it was always "the 323".... if someone asks me what car i have, i say "a mazda 323"...of course.. every familia series was called "323" down here, but the models were not..

=> mazda always had different models in the 323 series and depending on that, they gave them the "323" or "323F" model names (and of course put the corresponding badge on them)...

some random source with pics, you'll see the F in the pics or the descriptions/texts...
belgium
spain
netherlands
austria
germany
france

it's pretty useless to discuss that topic any further:
if you want your P5 badge like a EDM hatchback => get a 323F badge, not a 323 .. if you don't want to be so anal, never mind, even a 323 badge wil llook good on your car...but oh well..it's simply not 100% correct :\

I've seen pics of just a straight up "323" badge on the hatchback on an unmodded EDM BJFW so I dunno, maybe the 323f bade was just with a certain option package?
i would not know where..where is "western europe" if not from spain/frnace in the west to germany/austria/switzerland in the east" ? besides that: nowadays it's sort of a fashion to put a different sticker/badge on your car, it's some peoples' first "mod" lol even if they have doen nothing else on the car..

uhh, you know the "P5" in the UK is badged as "323" right?
and UK is also "EDM"

Whether it was 100% correct or not, I got the "323" badge because from what I saw the text on the 323f badge looked a little different and I didn't like it. It doesn't take much to be more correct than the side and rear Sport20 badging I had on before. Yeah, the USDM P5 comes with a much higher trim level than the base BJFW in JDM form, and the Sport20 BJFW is the closest to the USDM P5 in at least appearance, but the lack of 4WD on the USDM BJFW is kinda a big difference, as are the engine internals and such.

At least putting a "323" badge on my BJFW isn't claiming that it is a better model than it really is, unless you wanna get technical and discuss the variable intermittent rear wiper :)

Why the heck did this get bumped up lol

lol, now you cought me beeing a "typical european"... somehow we never think of the UK as a european country hahaha (it's never meant as an offense, but you know..they live on an island up on the left ^^)
ahm, i believe we discussed that matter before (icq?)... i haven't seen many UK BJs "live", but there are a few things that i saw:
1) cars of users like neil ronca or ryan mills (if you're lucky enough to catch a pic of the rear)... squeamishly listing every single modification... a "323F badge" is not one of them.

2) the UK brochure of the "mazda 323"..everywhere it says "mazda 323" and not "mazda 323f" all time time in the text.. but as soon as the badge appears..well... looky

3) 5170AB in the european right hand drive section of the EPC, listing the 323F badge BJ3D-51-720A as the ornament for the 5door -UK- hatchback

the "base" BJFW in japan *is* the sport20.... you CANNOT get a 2.0 in the lesser models (RS, R-4, S-f, etc) in japan... those are mostly BJ5Ws anyway..... same thing in europe, the only way you can get the 2.0 is the "sport" model, which makes that a BJFW

*all* BJFWs have the "sport" bumper (P5/MP3 style), but the export versions (USDM/EDM) do NOT have the nicer interior trim like the JDM one... in fact, the JDM model can be considered more "upscale" because of the interior trim.... the MP3's interior is the closest thing to the sport20's but isn't exactly the same (very close to the 2000 sport20 though).... export BJFWs have interior trim that's mostly the same as the RS model (BJ5W) in japan though

ok, you're right.... I could've sworn I saw pics of the UK ones saying "323" before... I went looking for other pics of the UK ones and they all say "323F"

well, I'll fix that in the FAQ real quick

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:'( my car is out in a parking lot about a mile away from me in class right now crying with incorrect badging. Oh well haha. I would have gotten the 323f badge if Ken could get it, but he only had the 323 so I got that.
