Rear AWR Motor mount installed

Hey,

Just installed the mount and I have to say not much of a difference as far as engine lash goes. I do have a filled front mount, but I would think that the rear is the most important in controlling engine movement...unless the side mount is giving in or something? Not bad over all, took me about two hours to do...

The rear mount is key. I have only the front in right now because the back is a b**** and I haven't given it a full day to work on it. I will tell you that the lack of solidity in the rear mount is very noticable when autocrossing.

I'll come out of a turn under power and I will actually lose traction because of the engine bucking. The tires will jump and lose their track when they land. It's a big problem to me and one that will get resolved when time permits. I'm actually afraid the lash is severe enough to break my transmission

you need to get the auto awr front mount (under the rad) it will help out

Well I have a filled mount in the front with 80a shore polyurethane. If you can do another killer deal for me Chris maybe I'll end up getting one :)

80 is pretty soft. The "soft" awr one is 88. I have both and they made a big difference. I have also had various combo's of the mounts also, AWR front stock rear, both AWR hard, soft AWR front hard rear. I currently have both F&R soft and it's a great compromise between vibration and lash.

Very, very little. Nothing compared to stock. Takes a little getting used to the 1100 rpm vibration, but it's not bad. I'll never take 'em off!

Hmmm...I wonder where the lash is coming from even with the AWR mounts? It must be the side mount as the engine flexes

With my car I'm pretty sure the clutch is the cause of most, if not all of the remaining lash. The motor doesn't move...I've had it on a dyno. It doesn't budge. The AWR's will allow a very little bit of movement, but not much. If the mounts are too hard, the vibration would be unbearable.

I have heard replacing one or 2 of the mounts and not the others can cause extra wear on the non replaced stock mounts. Meaning since the new mounts are not allowing as much movement the movement is being transferred to the still stock mounts and can thrash them pretty bad.

If you have both the front and rear in I would recommend getting the MSP side mount. seems to compliment the aftermarket front and rear mounts nicely.

i've heard installing all front and rear ones cause massive shaking, is this true? someone comfirm this? thanks

well i just noticed he has an msp so he already has the better side mount, so other than maybe filling it with a harder poly i dont see much else you could do.

I could see problems with the front and rear only on p5's and non speeds cause the side mount will still be soft and all the movement you took away from the engine moving forward and backward is now gonna go into that side mount.

Remember the pressure(in this case engine torque/twist) will almost always lead to the weakest link, so if you have 2 out of three mounts replaced your third is gonna take a harder beating than usuall

The side mount is very soft on the MSP as well...I don't know how it could be any better than the P5 one? I did fill my side mount as well, but after a few months it cracked a little around the ring but I didn't have anymore polyurethane to fill the cracks with so I took it out. Let me tell you, that mount and the front alone made a big difference! You'll definately exprience more vibration.

yah i would expect more vibration, and i dont know how much harder or if it really is in the msp 3rd mount but thats what I have seen on the forums here since no one makes an aftermarket 3rd mount.

Went for a drive and now I definately feel a difference...gear changes are much more pleasant and easier. The engine doesn't lash much /at all between soft gear changes like it used to. Also letting off the gas the car doesn't jerk forward like it used to. However I noticed a whine now doesn't matter if I'm in gear or not, accel/deccel, slowing down using the brakes. It's only there when the car is moving. Anyone else notice this?

Thanks.

Oh man...that's gonna be a pain to explain hehe Give me a day to sleep on it and I'll see what I can do :)

Heh, ive heard theres a few ways. Removing the intake manifold, or doing it under the car, in which wiring gets in the way...

I dont need step by step, just the tips and tricks you used. Dont bother with a tools list, ive got those. :)

Thanks
