Real World MPG numbers?

My gas light comes on for a few miles then itl turn off and go up to 1/4 tank not sure how much further I can push it beings I usually get gas before it comes on and go by how much gas goes in it to check my milage. I usually run 87 octane what do you guys run? I'm pretty sure my alignment being off and bad struts don't help any but can't cause it to lose out that much

I used to get 26.8mpg average, then I put in a K&N filter and full synthetic oil 10W-30 (Royal Purple at first) and now I consistently get 29.3 average.

03 protege5, automatic, 87octane w/ occasional 93 fills

I get like 25mpg. Almost all city driving.
5-speed, 205/55 tires @ 38psi, drop in k&n, mp3 ecu, racing beat cat back exhaust.

I have a long commute. Mostly highway. Auto transmission. K&N replacement air filter.
I get 24.6 MPG if I'm cruising at 75 MPH.
I get 30.9 MPG if I'm cruising at 58 MPH.

Air resistance triples over 55 MPH.

seem like the syn oil really help get that extra 3mpg. with this change we can consistently achieve the average that most new cars get. anyone else on synthetic oil and achiving close to 30mpg on an auto tranny.

am sure changing to a synthetic tranny fluid might get us that extra 1 mpg.

Yes, Penzoil Platinum 10-30w syn engine oil. Yes, AMSOIL synthetic ATF with ATF cooler. Yes, 30 mpg.

I have Amsoil synthetic in Manual tranny now, I use pennzoil yellow bottle(pyb) 5w30, planning on switching to Platinum on next oil change. Hoping I see a big difference.
