RCA Aux Console Install

I purchased the CarAdvanced Navi/DVD/MP3/iPod/etc. player for my '09 MS3. I thought I was going to use th iPod adapter to control and charge my iPod with the unit, however the interface for it sucks and you can't play videos through it. It also comes with an Aux A/V input you can swap the iPod connection with, so I figured I would just use that and connect my iPod that way. With this I would also be able to connect a Zune or any other A/V source (this makes it much more flexible).

The only problem was finding a good location to put the RCA jacks. I looked around and saw the current Aux 3.5mm audio input that came with the car in the center console and it looked to be just the right size for the RCA plugs. Since I don't use that input anymore, there's no reason not to use it.

Attached are the pictures of the simple and easy mod and it works great. I'm happy with the results. (2thumbs)

That's a pretty nice modification you have right there ! :D I think I would probably do something like that when I get mine ;)

excellent!!
how-to in the works??

Remove existing 3.5mm audio in plate, drill 3 holes, install RCA plugs into new holes, put plate back in car. :)

It's pretty simple really. I went to Home Depot and bought a pack of the RCA wall plate inserts and broke the plastic off around them and that leaves you with just the jack with the nut on the back.

I ran a regular set of RCAs from the HU through the center console and plugged them into the new plate.
