Ran the Spooln LX

Well I ran my car last night. I probably would've been happy with my time but my f!@#n pos intercooler pipe kept blowing off! My first run I got about half way and I lost power. I thought I broke something! I heard a scraping. It turned out that my intercooler pipe blew off. I still ran a 15.442 @ 86.447. I ran it again and it popped off right away. I was extremely pissed:mad: . My buddy with his JUN Civic ran a 13.8 with all motor. Another friend with a turboed Nissan NX ran a 13.4.

Worm clamps my young Padawan, Worm CLamps. :D If you had power down the whole track, you wouldve been in the mid to low 14's I bet. :D

My one IC pipe fell 2 times. I used hairspray and it hasn't fell off since.

ive run 18psi on my setup no problems with the piping or clamps. Just the PCV valve hose poped off. But i fixed that now. 20 psi here i come.;)

T-bolt clamps from Summit racing solved this problem for me. They hold so tight that you will have to worry about bending the piping if you tighten too much!

yes! t-bolt clamps, thank you someone knows. no bad hose clamps on piping please. i need some piggy back stuff and 18psi then i'll be cool.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try that tonight. If that doesn't work than I'll get some of those t-bolts.
The edges of my pipes are already beveled around the edges.
If I'm reading the slip right my 60 ft time was 2.647. My reaction time was .208. It would have been a good run if that damn hose wouldn't have come off.

If you're trying to make me feel better you're not doing a very good job.J/K :) You're just making all of us jealous!

Use a damn ratchet on the hose clamps. I have never had one come off, EVER!

Wow, it's surprising that the pipes aren't bead rolled and provided with T/band clamps!

I don't know if you'd call it "bead rolled" but there is a rolled lip at the end of the pipes. It was a custom job on the intercooler so I kind of expected some "bugs" such as this.

The 60ft needs some work. Droping your 60ft a tenth can improve your ET's a few tenths down the end of the track. So on street tires, if you can get it down around high 2.2's to 2.4's, your ET's should DROP!

What sort of tree does your local track run? A .208 is red-light material!

Yeah, a perfect light is a .400 or .500, depending on the track, and what boost are you running to be running a 15.4 after the pipe blew off.

Remember, don't sweat your Reaction time - it has NOTHING to do w/ how fast you ran. ;)

Worry about getting a GOOD LAUNCH (60-ft time)...that should be your primary concern.

It was my first time racing a 1/4 mile. I'm not too familiar with the track. I think I did pretty good considering the circumstances. I won't be able to run it anymore this year but I expect to run high 13's-low 14's. I was running 8psi on 110 octane race fuel.
