Radio/Navi for Mazda5?

I posted the same thing under the audio. My wife wants a backup camera, but wants a slick look. I am planning to put a lcd overhead later. Planning to do this route too to make the install easy and slick. Only issue I have is no one has tried it. I may bite into this and let everyone know how it goes.

THere is a thread where someone put in a double din with nav and backup camera. The post is prob a year old, look under diesel drivers posts he installed a flip down LCD, also did a dynamat write up.

Let me chime in real quick. Installed an Alpine PKG-RSE2 drop down LCD/DVD last year. Modified the AUX jack so that it takes the audio input from the DVD player so I can just play audio without using the FM transmitter. I put the instructions in the audio section -- it basically fools the AUX thinking there's always a 3.5mm audio cable plugged into the AUX jack so you will always see the AUX as one of the modes as you flip through. If you get the Alpine like I did, you need to get longer machine screws in same thread per cm as the ones provided. You will need to cut out a template so that your DVD player will mount as close to the edge of the sunroof's rear edge -- after cutting the headliner, you'd need to drill the sunroof bracket and use pop rivets to hold the DVD bracket into place. It's not hard if you just remove a section of the headliner to see how it looks like.

I'll do another video of my setup as of now. I have a Micca audio player in the glove compartment with over 30+ HD quality movies on a 100GB USB drive. I rarely use the DVD anymore and removed the remote sensor from Micca and wired it to the center passenger column so kids in the back can control the Micca. Micca costs like $50 on Amazon and it's real convenient. Problem is, I still haven't found a 5.5VDC voltage regulator IC so I can run DC instead of DC-AC inverter in the glove compartment.
