Radio Brightness on GT : Lights do not seem to dim on auto setting

After owning my GT for 5 months I just realized that despite having my brightness setting set to "auto" my in-dash screen does not dim at all. Is this because the auto headlight on is switched to the on position? In normal cars the in-dash lights dim once you flip on the headlights.

The odometer reset knob is also for guage/display brightness if you turn it. If it is maxed out to the right, all displays will be at max brightness even in the auto setting. If you turn it counter clockwise even just one click it will auto dim when the lights are on.

the radio brightness doesn't dim in the auto setting on my touring either.

Edit: so I misread what nodnerb said, but they were right. Turn the odometer reset pin one click to the left ( away from max ) and the gauges and radio will dim when the lights are turned on.
