I've never been impressed wth BEL stuff. Just sold my Escort and got a Valentine V1 for the MS3. If you get the Valentine, be sure to download the "secret instructions" that let you configure it.

the valentine 1 probably the best but also the most expensive...i heard veltronics makes good radars.

well, I have the 8500 and yet again, got another ticket this morning heading to work. It's the the detectors fault, when you are the only one on the road at 5am, its hard for a detector to actually work efficiently.

Currently I have the Escort X50 and it work wonders.....but it isn't 100% undetectable......more like 80% to 85%, the website can better explain it. So far only one is 100% undetectable which is the Bel STI Driver. I know a few people from the VB area who have a Valentine RD, one of them got caught cause the cop detected his signal. (burn)

I have the 8500 x50 and think it sucks, I am very disappointed with it, I get alot of false alarms and it doesn't let me know a cop is there until I am 15 feet from him. There must be something wrong with this thing.

A radar detector only works if the radoar is on. Most have a pause button that stops radar beams from coming out until they think they see a speeder, boom its on your 15 feet in front of them with a ticket. Just learn where they sit, and slow down around thier honey holes.

I've never gotten a speeding ticket and never used a radar detector. People are predictable if nothing else. The second they see a cop they tap the brakes. If you see someone suddenly slowing down in a weird fashion, chances are theres a cop on the other side of that corner or bridge

My 8500 has more than paid for itself 10 times over. But, since you're in VA, I don't know how much luck you're going to have. I *think* there is a system that disables or confuses what VA cops use to detect your detector.

I purchased the Bel sti driver, installed it today hard wired to the fuse box with the sun visor holder from radar busters.
I'll let you know how it works.

Very nice unit, that inc. the hard wire kit, I only had to purchase an add a fuse accessory.

I'm using the Bell RX-65 and it works great for me. I don't know about Virginia though. All they have to do is see it sitting in your windshield and they got you.

why not just get the Blinder radar jammer? completely undetectable and 100% effective and about 40$ cheaper...I'm not sure on the laws I didn't look into it but Escort makes a jammer that works with their detector
