i wonder if i get mine powder coated if they can fix the rash

there is a company in md that fixes rims and they are close to the md va border. the can fix curb rash and are very reasonable pricewise. let me know if you want the phone number

im gonna have to say bronze FTW

that will be the color i powder coat mines when money become available

this is the bronze i want
Photoshoot10.jpg

although i think a powder coat black for me would be cool but my second choice

I think the darker bronze would look sweet, the pic that Mazdaspeed777 showed on the last page with the orange MSP. The dark bronze would look even better on a black MSP...
I recently got a silver MSP from my buddy, but he didn't know his head from his a$$ in regards to car care, and took it to a detail shop where they used an acid based cleaner to clean his wheels... That type of chemical only good on CHROME. Now there are spots on the wheels where the gunmetal color came off... looks kind of whack up close. I think powder coating them Black might be the way to go. Only question is... Gloss black or Chrome Black?

I sprayed mine black too. I've got a pic but It's too dark and too bad of a camera to really see. but I post it up anyway.

Regular spray paint man. You just gotta do it professional. You gotta put your finger lightly on the sprayer of the can and get it coming out steady but light. Then keep moving over all of the rim kinda fast and make sure not to go over the areas again that look done.

I really was surprised at how well they come out. Professional work it looks like for real. but don't wsah them hard I'll tell you that. Paint will start to come off not completely but you'll see what I mean if you wash them to hard by hand...
anyway heres the pic

and I ended up stripping all of the chrome off like three times cuz I messed up 2 times. Before the last time after using laquer thinner and some other s*** to remove the paint, the gunmetal was gone and under it was already black which I thought was funny.

looks really good with the stock center cap and lug nuts even though that pic kinda sucks and you can't see the hotness.

problem is I only have 2 racing hart wheels. and I got some ugly ass drag rims on the back from a junkyard when I sold my 4 nice rims. So I'm gonna go see if I can get them painted black, right now actually. my friend knows a paint shop and it's right next to his tires plus so I'm gonna go see whats up.

Should cost 60-70.

Ballsy move... I wouldn't have the guts to paint my rims... I'm too picky, I'm barely comfortable putting touch-up paint on my MSP because it's silver and it's a pain to match no matter what. But your wheels turned out good... congrats.

I would get mine done professionally but if it really is around $400, not worth it. I might as well buy a new set of rims & tires. I can get a screamin deal on some wheels right now, they ar XXR's. Anyone heard of them? Here are some that I was looking at... What you think?

XXR - 502 - Chromium Black shown, also come in all silver

XXR-009 - Gunmetal shown, also come in black or silver

XXR-962

Any of those look good for a Silver MSP? I'm leaning towards the 502's if I do it... So then it be between a 17x7 or 18/7.5 rim..hmmmm.
SIDE NOTE: I don't plan on lowering my car.

You should give it a try. I don't know why mine came out so good. It's the first time I've tried to paint rims it just kinda happened.

but it cost me $20 to paint 2 stock rims. Thats awesome.

The shop thats gonna paint my 2 ugly ass gay colored scratched up corolla junkyard rims wants $75 ,so I'm gonna try to do it tomorrow before the towers meet thats going on down here in florida. If not next week maybe I can get some better pics up from a better camera or someone else's camera.
Here's another pic thats very recent. Kinda shows the front rims better but not so much, not a good angle. And you can see the ugly ass rims on the back a little.
and maybe you can spot my boost gauge hanging since I have no driver side pillar.

nvmsp - I guess I could give it a try but a close family friend said he could get them all done for $200. So I don't even know if it's worth my time but seems more then possible to do on my own. I'll definitely consider it prior to throwing down some money. And if I can get rims and tires for under $600 (17s or 18s), it's becoming a hard decision. It's funny...I didn't want to drop a lot of $$ on this car since I just got it but I am addicted to mod'ing my car's... at least a little bit.

hollar1211 - 962's ehhh... the 2 inch lip is pretty sweet, and the simple 5 spoke is easy to clean. I appreciate your opinion. If I go with the 962's.. GunMetal or Silver? I have a sunlight silver metallic MSP. I need to take a pic tomorrow and maybe do some photo-shop.. or at least attempt to, in order to get an idea of what it'll look like.

i'd say the gunmetal. i have a silver 3.5 also and like the stock silver/gun metal racing hart color combo. i don't know if they'll come with the 2" lip though for a front wheel drive car. the picture shows the rims on a rear wheel drive g35. the front wheel on the g35 is probably more accurate.

Yaa.. the lip on the back tire of that G35 is massive.. probably closer to a 5 inch lip, if not more.

I'm going to have to look at the wheels in person. The gunmetal on the Stock Racing Harts matches way better... The gunmetal shown on the 962's looks real dark, thats why I was considering the 502's (first pic) because it's "chromium black" which is closer to color of the racing harts.

keep moving all over? some order or circle is best.

its not hard if u go light, which is the key. i messed up my clearcoat, but i had finished paintig em pretty good. i say u shud get the set in the middle. te last ones r kinda RWDish

i think black is nice. even i have repainted my wheels black. it gives a good look when wet.

Finally got my wheels mounted with new tires. MSP Racing Harts powdercoated a gloss black with inside ledges left unpowdercoated:
