Racing Beat Exhaust

I really like the way the RB muffler sounds, but I'm curious about how loud it is when cruising on the freeway. For $250 it could be an absolute steal.

Sounds good!

Remember though, it's just the rear muffler section if you read the description.

Oh I know, I had the whole exhaust done on my previous car and it was LOUD inside and out... I wanted something a lot quieter. I hope to get it sometime this week. DIDNT RECIEVE TRACKING= FAIL!

I hear ya. I had an 05' MZ3 with a full MS3 cat back exhaust including CAT delete. While I loved the sound of it, after 2+ years with it on there, it was honestly nice just to go back to a quiet cabin. I think the RB muffler is a great idea and I'll be considering myself in the future.

Try coating the floor pan around the exhaust and muffler with the thick, rubberized undercoating that comes in spray cans.

It will make the inside quieter since the floor pan will resonate less. I did the "tunnel" and the floor pan exhaust area in my Integra and it was big help.

Hi Domii, when you get the RB could you please measure the ID of the inlet flange? I'm curious to see if its bigger than OEM.

Thanks,

John

I recently got the RB exhaust and it is almost an exact duplicate in dimensions of the stock except for the exhaust tip which is considerably larger in diameter (I have the Sport version). The thing is beautiful to look at given its stainless steel construction. The mating flange is exactly the same and match up with the stock pipe; a perfect fit. The exhaust comes with 2 bolts and a gasket, a 10-15 mins install. The deep low baritone sound growls when pushed to over 4k rpms, but when cruising at highway speeds (70-80) it just hums. Not distracting or annoying. With the music on (not too loud), windows closed, A/C on, you barely noticed it. With the stock tires, I hear the road more than the exhaust.

The other thing I noticed is that the shifting seems easier. By that I mean the transition between gears seems smoother, the clutch engages better. I am not sure if the smoother air flow out the exhaust has anything to do with that. However it was something I noticed right away. When idling, the exhaust purrs and the sound upticks a bit with each cycling of the A/C (the A/C raises the rpms a bit). To me, it was worth the expense. The car sound a lot more European.

Yup, I think that the stock M2 is just a bit too quiet at low RPM.

My sense of feel in my feet is limited due to diabetes, so I rely on the sound of the motor to judge engine speed/clutch engagement. A little more exhaust noise would be good for me. With a bit more sensory input, it might be why you're now smoother with the clutch?

Well then I can't wait to get it and install it :)

I agree about the shifting. I have driven a couple of cars with a stock exhaust then with an aftermarket piece and it was always easier to shift, both for DD and for performance, after the exhaust was on it. I am looking forward to the one I am making for mine. Should be done early August. I am in China right now on a business trip.
