R.I.P. My Baby.........Good Times

nahh dude, it's impossible to go that fast on those roads, there was a pretty sharp lefthand turn right before this righthand one.........i was below 25-30

Man that must've been one helluva ride. You are one lucky guy to walk away from that. Especially w/o a scratch. Someone was watching over you. Glad you're ok.

Wow, sorry to hear about this!! But its great that you are ok and walked out with NOTHING wrong..... but tell us, what was going through your mind when you saw the deer and then went off the mountain, and down..... what did you do after you came to a stop.....

yea **** THE DEER! what the hell is a deer doing out in the forest on a mountain anyway!

Man, Sorry to hear it, glad you're alright.

I was coming down a twisty mountain road on Memorial Day and I hit some dirt. I locked up the tires and went the opposite way of you though - through some mud and into the mountain. None of us in the car knew we even hit the mountain except for the damage to the bumper. I was stuck in mud for an hour but everyone was OK. I need to post some pics. Just trying to say I know how it is and good luck.

Victor man,

I thank God your ok. Like everyone says the car can get replaced, but just glad u ok.

Damn

Well I hate to see ya go, "King of all animated gif's."
That's a tale for the Grand Doc's for sure.:p
Oh and nice Madien avatar RISM.
Piece of Mind.

Glad you are good. I wonder why people are afraid to hit the deer. I would probably would have tried to sverve too being in that situation. I wonder why people are afraid to hit the deer...

people need to hit DEER and not swerve...on of my friends lost his mom becouse she swerver around a deer and went of the side of the Mt. and died....
I whould rather kill the deer than kill myself!

Damn. How scary was that the moment that you knew you were gonna go over?
Sorry about your car, but it really is amazing that you came out unscathed from that. Hopefully you hang out and keep posting around here. Next time, it's venison-jerky!

"With every door that closes, another one opens up." ;)

s***, Sound PhD...that looks like something you'd see in a movie...like you would have hit that turn straight on and just gone flying off. It's amazing that you're still alive, buddy...Good luck with getting all this sorted out. Your friends and family, and that includes all of us online folk, will be here for you (case in point is Steph!) :D

Glad you're ok (it looks like there isn't even a scratch on *you*!) Best of luck with the coming days and weeks!

sorry to hear about ur msp...
but i got one question?
u gonna be possibly parting anythign that left of it? or insurance keeping it all?

I would have hit the deer
you are lucky the car did not colapse on you or somthing

oh well your safe and thats all that matters right? right

next time you decide to go deer hunting take my car, 3100lbs of Raw iron, its the same size as the MSP too

if I see a deer in my way and I have nowhere to go, I'll be yelling "MY FENDER IS CAST IRON b**** YOU BETTER MOVE, I GOT 2800lbs ON YOUR ASS!!!"

u guys, thanks a lot for the kind words, really.
Like i told Steph, this has been the best summer ever.

Buying MSP turned out to be the greatest car-owning experience i think i will ever go through. All the friends i made, all the things i learned..........thank you.........all of u.

people that know me well know that i look at life a little differently.........the first thing that passed through my mind was......what an amazing view this is........

when i told my mom what happened, she hugged me, kissed me, and said: "**** that piece of metal" (btw, she loved my car), then took a pen and marked September 6th as my second birthday

Victor, glad to see you are ok. Sorry about the car, but you have the right attitude...it's replaceable, you aren't.

For the others, the reason you don't hit the deer is that there's a good chance the 400 lb. deer will come through the windshield after you hit it. Remember how messed up people were when some sh*thead kids dropped bricks off an overpass onto the cars on the freeway underneath? Well, imagine a 400 lb. brick and what that would do to you.

The only proper avoidance maneuver for this is one you practice all the time, at speed, when autocrossing: offset gates. I strongly recommend people at least try an autox course to get an idea of what your car can do near the limits of adhesion, and to train yourself to control the car properly when approaching those limits. When something like this happens, it's so fast you don't have time to think. You just react. It's worth it to hone those reactions off the street at your local autox.
