i read in my old car and driver mag that quiksilver has a partnership or something with mazda for the mazda5. didnt know that they made one like that lol. very kool though
There's one here around the North Shore of Oahu...I saw it everywhere last year when the waves were good. But if I recall, it's not that artsy. mainly just huge quiksilver logos on it. http://www.quiksilver.com/community/mazdaartcars.aspx
Yes those were put into a very limited release...The originals are all one off drawings that were done by hand and then of course copied and rendered to create the cars that would be driven by the general public...I'm not sure of the exact amount of each design created, but when I contacted Mazda about them back in 2005, I was told that most of the vehicles were going to be used as company cars for Quiksilver retail stores, and shown at surf competitions around the mainland West Coast and of course in Hawaii...Their email response did say though that a limited number of the vehicle designs would be available for consumers to special order...
Up here in Santa Cruz, I saw the white and black design with the paint splatters and Quiksilver logos written all over it...I agree with the above statement that they definitely look a lot better in person...I actually discovered the Mazda 5 because of these cars...I was on the Quiksilver website one night back in 2005 and there was an ad for them that took me to the website...I got my 5, but I was never lucky enough to snag one of those special designs...Being an avid surfer I'd rock one of those rides in a heartbeat!!!
No sightings in this part of the Globe. Maybe not a business case for QuickSilver. I think I've seen higher waves in Lake Ontario than around this portion of the Atlantic
