Quick Question

Hey all whats going on??

I may be posting this in the wrong thread(If so mods please move to proper forum)

I have a 2002 Mazda Protege 5, with 90 thousand miles (Yeah i loved to drive it)

Anyways, the only aftermarket engine parts i have on it is a AEM Short Ram Air kit and thats it...

Last week after work while on the way home i noticed a knocking noise coming from the engine block... The next day after inspecting it a little more closely i kinda figured i had a busted rod or something... BUT...

The big if here though is that the engine has not locked up or anything so im thinking maybe its a Spun Bearing since the engine light came on... The engine runs fine, and as said before has not locked on me...

If it is indeed a Spun Bearing, how much do you think im looking at for repairs? Is it easy to drop the Crank?? Maybe i can make it a weekend project...

Well guys, hopefully one of you all know whats going on here and can give me some good advice... I live in Houston Texas and would hate to have to replace the motor on this car...

before speculating what the problem is, I'd get the CEL code checked, that way we can narrow it down a bit....

as for the question about the weekend project, I'm a newb so consider it a free bump

Im having someone come and look at it on Tuesday so, hopefully its nothing serious... We'll see...
