Quick introduction, and question concerning K&N Typhoon on P5

Hey, my first post, so i want to say hello to everyone, and happy to meet you all, i just got my P5 not too long ago and i am receiving my K&N typhoon tomorrow, but my question is, should i go Cold Air or Short Ram? i know it uses both, but is there any true performance differences between CAI and SRI? And also if i decide to go CAI how hard is it to convert to SRI when in rainy conditions?

Thank you all, and looking forward to start upgrading my P5 little by little ^_^

the CAI will have a nicer sound and according to the theory behind it allow more horsepower by being out of the engine bay. since yours is easily converted between SRI and CAI I would stick with SRI during the rainy season to safeguard against hydrolocking if you find yourself in a large puddle

I've tried both and feel that for everyday driving I get better response as a short ram. Maybe i'm crazy but there was a noticible increase in torque/throttle response after i switched - sound seems the same.

welcome! u got yourself a good intake system. both are good with an increase or decrease in 2/3 hp? i wouldnt be too concerned about CAI or SRI. id go SRI cause its easier to clean, thats just me though
peace

congrats on the car and your first mod :)

as mentioned earlier, i have it on short ram during the winter and spring during the sloppy weather. in the summer i use the full cai system. you may not hydrolock if you use the cold air system all year long, but it gives me peace of mind. besides, i dont have the money to buy a new engine if it did lock.

btw, great color choice for your p5 (2thumbs)

hey, thank you all, and i'm currently running my P5 w/ my newly installed K&N, and i also got the MSP full exhaust going from headers to tail pipe, all running nice and smoothly, a nice deep sound i might add, now that i am temporarily done w/ engine mods my next step is going to be my sound system, any other mods that you guys would recommend after an intake? not going extreme like turbo, something simple to do to give a nice noticable increase in HP, or possibly suspension, whichever is not extremely costly, btw i'm running CAI at the moment, very nice difference :)
