I recently got my MSCBE installed and there is one single section where the muffler is joined to the forward pipe by overlapping the pipe and a single clamp is used. Here's the problem:
The clamp is about a half inch in width, and the section that overlaps the forward pipe is about a full inch in area. If you clamp on the front section, the rearward area is exposed and leaks. If you move the clamp back towards the rearward area, the front section leaks. We tried modifying the clamp to tighten even harder to the point where the bottom of the pipe isn't leaking but you can feel (if you put your fingertip over the top of the pipe while the car is running) that it's puffing air and moisture out of that section.
What should I do? I don't want to leave it for long. Should I try and find a larger clamp? Maybe wrap it with exhaust wrap then clamp it? I feel it's kind of ghetto but I wanna fix it before I forget about it and have something bad happen.
For those who don't know, this is what i'm talking about:
The bottom muffler with the pipe with slits on it.
More pics:
Right near the clamp, see that tiny hole peeking out to the left?
I know that the marking is there to fit the piping all the way up to it, but no matter what we did (even lined up), it didn't fix it. Or it pulled too hard on the hangers.
