Question for people who have rolled fenders before

:
2001 Mazda MP3
Ok, as of now i'm running a 225 40 on my stock wheels at a 52 offset and i have 9/16" of clearance to the inside of the rear finder(approx 14 mm) from the outside of the tire
the wheel to the inside of the fender lip i have 3/4"(19mm)

The bent portion of the lip is .5" (12mm)

so TOTAL from the wheel to the outside edge of the fender i have 31 MM
The wheels i'm looking at 8.5 at +44 will put the wheel 27 MM closer to the fender, which is between the inside of the lip, and the outside of the fender.

So i need to roll, i know that. BUt i want to run a 235 tire, which is 10MM wider than my current set up, so half of that on one side plus the 27 MM closer to the fender my new wheels will be puts me at 32MM closer to the fender. 1mm larger than the space i've measured to have...

So my question, for those that have rolled you fenders, how much did you gain, or does it just bend the lip up?

And to be clear, i'm going to be running BC coilovers and i'm NOT going for a slammed look, just a nice level ride that's a little bit lower than stock

You are way off. Way,way off. Wheel width means absolutely nothing, disregard it. The wheel is not going to contact the fender, the tire will. That and offset is the measurement you need to be concerned with. A 235/40 on a +44 wheel will be 13mm closer to the fender than your current setup of 225/40 on +52.

so minor roll, if any, is going to be all it takes? so what you did to figure that out is add the difference in the offset between the old wheel and the new wheel... 8mm plus half the difference of the new tire?

thats what i originally thought, but didn't think that "seemed" right so that puts me at 13 MM closer to the fender... ok makes since, but wasn't sure

Exactly and the also the fact that the line of travel that the wheel/tire makes as the suspenion compresses is not linear but a curve (camber) toward the inside.

i might be able to get away without rolling.. yippy

That will really depend on how low you wanna lower the car. I am not rolled in the rear and I have yet to rub. I am only lowered 5/16" in the rear though, your proposed setup is 6mm closer to the fender than my 215/45 on +40.
