so i think sometime this summer i'd like to remove the current trunk badging on my msp, and replace with one msm mazdaspeed badge.

i know that the protege emblem has the 2 clips behind it, so tha't's something that i'd have to have filled in, but i couldn't find a straight answer on whether or not the flying m had clips also - does anyone know?

also, anyone know about how much it would cost to get the holes filled in and painted? i don't plan on replacing the protege badge's spot with anything ..

I believe both emblems have the holes behind them. Also, I don't think that the MSM emblem completely covers the holes.

wouldn't try to use the msm emblem to cover the holes up - i wouldn't use anything to cover it up .. there would be nothing there.

Alot of people have replaced the "protege" emblem with a "turbo" emblem for VW.

one, i think the emblem looks off center when you get it to cover up the holes, and 2, i didn't want to replace the protege badge with anything - just leave it blank.

I have replaced my badges. I replaced my Protege one with the VW Turbo badge (to cover holes) and I put the MSM badge on the right hand side. The MSM badge does NOT fit perfectly but damm close. The flying M in the middle has no posts so you can do whatever.

i've read the write up on filling the holes that the protege badge leaves behind, but then they put another badge over it. i don't wanna put anything back in that spot.

about how much would it cost to have that small portion of my trunk painted? could touch up paint get the two little spots?

I think it would cost too much to get those "professionally" filled but it's all relative. It's up to you. If your bent on NOT replacing the badge, then get it filled in by a shop. I would say 200 to 300 bucks. You could try filling it in yourself and using touch up. May not look that good.

I thought all the badges on the trunk lid had posts. Damn I need to go an remove that one.

I believe someone used some epoxy to fill the holes here. Then painted it with aerosol touch-up he got somewhere. I think it was a yellow msp too. Sorry can't remember the name and can't find the post.

LOL Dude that was me. I totally used epoxy, worked good, but the hole I filled was/is being half covered by an emblem....so it's hard to tell/see.

Dumb question: How do you take off the damn sticker that has the dealer name on it.

Now I'm thinking again....and I'm not 100% sure there are no posts...but to be sure look under the lip and wait I'll go look....
