Question about a Noise?

Never had a turbo car before so wasn't sure what this noise was.

Sometimes when I am in the gas good and shift from 2nd to 3rd I can hear a sound from the engine. Is funny noise sounds almost like a Turkey Call?

Any insight to what that is?

Sounds like the Blow Off Valve opening. This is normal between shifts, especially noticeable between 2nd and 3rd, and I often here it between 1st and 2nd.

This is normal, sounds more like an owl hooting to me, but turkey call is good too. What do you think Greg, turkey or owl?

Either is good, and I will tell you, I drove around yesterday with the Kenwood off, so I could really enjoy the turbo spooling, and the BOV do it's thing.

Did I mention that I f**king love my MAZDASPEED???!!!

Err, Greg, YES, I think you did mention that you loved your Mazdaspeed. I do too but after everything I can't help but get depressed - trying to diagnose the coolant smell which comes and goes, the cracked windshield (waiting for salt trucks to stop), the clunk/squeaks and now a cracked wind splint (the black plastic "lip" that sticks out under the air dam(n) that got whacked by highway debris and costs a $100).

By the way, it was nice driving around today with the windows down w/ 60+ degree temperatures in the Memphis area. There seems to be a bit of edginess on the forum of late; some fighting, and even begrudging. (in other threads)

I think some of us need to (perhaps) come a little south for the winter - might help some of the negativity. That snow has got to be a real b**** up north, especially to you new MSP owners that can't really enjoy your cars in the winter.

Now cheer up, damn it!!! (no Dex; I'm not referring to you in particular - your a good guy)

yes,,yes,,,,,,not bad. I can hear it now.

my BOV doesnt sound like a turkey, an owl, or any other animal. if anything, its sounds more like a snake.
