Q about mazda 3 07

I just bought my mazda 3 and I love it. But I feel it's pretty weak although it is a four-cylinder. I am having trouble identifying my car. I don't know what model it is (i, s,) I know it's not a mazda speed. It's a 4door sedan automatic with optional pad shift manual trans, but I want to know if it's a 2.0L engine or a 2.3 and what my HP are. I think i remember seeing it on my engine and if it's a 2.0 or 2.3L I would have 148 HP or 156HP respectivily. I think.

With that being asked I want to ask about upgrades. I was looking at turbo's and I found one called "Hi Boost" Turbo kit, for around 4k. I was wondering if anyone has any reviews on this or if madza will install a turbocharger that won't void my warrenty. Does Mazda give the choice for a turbo upgrade? and if so is it more expensive/better performance?

I would think mazdaspeed might make a kit for you and not void your waranty, but it will be damn expensive...I have heard nothing but good things about hi boost, although i am new to mazda world...

I think the I is the base (lower model) 2.0, nothing real fancy,

I think the 2.3 is the S, and you can get all the gadgets(leather,navi things like this, i am sure somone wil chime in if im wrong

Pop your hood and the 2.0 or 2.3L should be imprinted on your cover. That will tell you if it is I or S.

The 148HP compared to 156HP is almost nothing. As you've guessed, turbo is the quickest way to get lots of power but Mazda does not offer a "Mazdaspeed" turbo kit.
The Hi-Boost would probably be good grounds to void some of your parts from warranty - probably a big reason why not a whole lot of 3 owners have turboed yet.

the easiest way to tell is look on the side of the car. all s models will a 2.3 badge. you should have already noticed them when you purchased the car, so im going to assume you have the i model.

I'm betting that's the case as well. My main reasons besides warranty issues for waiting are the actual cost of the parts and the increased costs associate with use afterward.
Having to front the money for part-time school is a big drain, and paying off other debts comes first...

like others said it will say 2.3l on the side of the car if it is the S model. as far as keeping your warranty i wouldn't really do anything more then an intake and a cat back... for performance grades otherwise the warranty for the drive train is going to be hard to keep if something goes wrong. if you wanted that much power from your car you should have bought a ms3 or at least gotton a stick shift.... good luck with the mods as maybe the intake and exhaust will cure your bug for now.

perfect thank your for all of your answers. I have a question about oils now and i really don't feel like switching forums but what would be the best for my mazda? I hear about synthetic and non synthetic oils and I really don't know what the difference is. Again thank you for your answers.

Btw I have a 2.0L mazda and reading on oils i seen that someones said their manual called for 5w 30. I believe when i went for my oil change they put in 5w 20. Will this cause trouble to my engine? should i replace it with 5w 30 on my next oil change?

The NA engines, 2.0L and 2.3L take 5w20. Only the turbo engine takes 5w30.

there's nothing printed on the valve cover

the numbers mean nothing... the difference seems small on paper but it's bit in the real world... the 2.0 feels totally gutless compared to the P5's engine and the 2.3 has power all the way (thanks to the torque)

the 2.0 3's are SLOW, period
