PS2 or X-box

I am thinking about either buying a PS2 or an x-box. I am leaning towards a ps2 because of final fantasy, DBZ, and GT4(if and when this ever comes out). But x-box isn't out of the pic. I mainly play fighting, rpg, or sport(including driving) games. Every once in a while I will play a war game or something else. So which is better quality overall(comparing same games)? Most games are available for both systems so I was wondering which is better and how much better? If there is no real big difference then I'll just go with ps2.

Well a year ago or more I would have said PS2. But the quality of games coming out on X-Box lately has increased. I have both, and if I had to give up one it would be PS2 fo sho!

depends what kinda games u like...i prefere sports games on ps2 but action/ adventure games on xbox

in general, games 'look' a tad bit better on the xbox because of the xbox's hardware configuration.

they're becoming cheap enough in price now that you could actually get both for a very decent price. with the new slimlines out, the regular ps2's are a bit cheaper (check ebay).

i have an xbox and i love playing halo 2 online. i really love madden on the xbox, but i can't say that i've ever played it on ps2.

i'd just check out the game situation before you buy.

www.gamespot.com has great reviews. www.xbox-scene.com tutorials and forums if you wanna get a modded box and be cool like me and a few other people on the boards.

drew.

xbox...

I have all three systems and the box is the only ones that gets any regular attention.

Depends on the games you like but if driving is your game then its the xbox all the way

I'm the same way. The only reason my PS2 is seeing regular attention right now is because of GTA:SA.

XBox! They have a lot of hot games out right now..the 2005 ESPN games are supposed to be really good. But then again if youre into games like GT4 (which SHOULD come out relatively soon next year) or FF (which you have to pay for monthly WTF) then get the PS2. Plus its new shrunken size is a big plus over Xbox's DVD Player sized console.

Modded Xbox, standard Xbox, and Ps2 with HDAdvance.

I rarely buy games anymore - but I do rent/borrow.

Well no s*** I wouldnt buy games if I had a moded xbox either =P I vote xbox... the only reason I still have a ps2 is GT4 and MGS3. If you like playing online then get the xbox. Xbox live rapes sony's online program.

Definatly Xbox. Hands down it's a better platform. Xbox live pushes it far over the top. Nothing like being done with a game, thinking there's nothing left, and microsoft comes along and says. "Here's hours of more fun for $5!" I paid $5 just for the 22b sti in Project Gotham Racing 2=p However, it came with like 15 more road courses and 10ish other cars.

I completely disagree. The only driving game worth playing is Gran Turismo. No other game comes close in terms of physics reality (Please don't say Project Gotham; that can't touch GT3). That being said, I own both systems. The PS2 is for Gran Turismo and GTA, and the Xbox for pretty much everything else (I bought it for Halo, but it's graphics engine is better, so if a game is out for both systems I'll get it for Xbox.)

Of course, I must bust out the SNES for some Mario action every now and then. There's nothing quite like playing Mario in Neo:6 surround mode (rofl)

yeah, the xbox doesn't even have a decent wheel. get a ps2 and xbox later unless you really want xbox live. I did it the other way around and shouldn't have

mod'd xbox. nothing else matters

media center, good games, emulators, mp3 player, the list goes on.

I would only buy a ps2 for one game. gt4. And to be honest, if it's only going to be gt3 with more cars, and newer tracks...been there, done that.

According to previous Sony/Polyphony press releases, GT4 will have an updated physics engine and better AI. Hopefully the AI will make the CPU controlled cars try to avoid hitting other cars.

ps2, the only game that i really like for xbox that isn't available on ps2 is halo. Plus ps2 has the gran turismo games.

so comparing game graphics of the same game available for both systems, there is not much difference right? but xbox has a slight advantage. so it seems that it depends on the type of games I play that are available for each system. I'm not a hardcore gamer, so live isn't really gonna get me to buy something.
Also, is the slimmer ps2 any better graphic wise than the old ps2? also, does it still play DVD's?

the new PS2 has a built in IR port so you can use a universal remote to control DVDs out of the box since using the controller sucks. The only thing it lacks from the old one is the HDD slot and 1394 connection (nobody uses it)

ok....im a gamer...and somewhat biased...but here it goes ladies and gentlemen...

best four player games...hands down gamecube(even though its not mentioned in the thread or considered) also very original games as well and x-box is also good for 4 player

PS2 seems to be very popular and has lots of support, yes, but the thing is they do have a s*** load of crap ass games that they keep milking for the system...im more biased towards x-box but ps2 is also good. x-box has better graphics...built in hard drive...x-box lives...good original games....what sold me was the internal hardrive...no need for a memory cars ever in your life, which i love, ps2 though is highly followed as well though. GTA: SA is amazing...about the only reason why id get a ps2...that and maybe DDR but DDR is also out for x-box, just less games. it all depends though because a lot of games are comming universal now...my suggestion is to play a buds ps2 and x-box and see which you enjoy more...x-box cotrollers are bigger, except with s type controller or w/e, but yeah i like x-box i was originally sceptical about it when it came out but i went to nyc premier a month before it came and and BAM i had to have it and i have not bought another system since....younger sister has ps2 and gamecube so there is no need anyways...and she doesent touch the x-box either way...

a down fall for people is size...yes its big but it grows on you...you get what you pay for...internal hard drive...youl be saving money on memory cards since youl never use them...plus you can always mor your x-box like so many people have and ive been told that some modded x-boxes can play ps2 game it all depends on your wants and needs though happy gaming and good luck making a final decision

also one more thing...demographics wise...gamecube is geared for younger audience and ps2 is geared for both young and old and i would say x-box is geared for older i beleive....im not to sure how they are with kiddy games but i beleive there arent too many...just like with anything in life it all depends on what you like

and yes halo 2 is amazing....
