i feel kinda bad cause they have a stock dyno on flyin miatas website though they only got like 98 hp.

Yeah, he pegged the hell out of it. It's the first FWD car they've ever done. If you notice, it swerves around a bit. Stock dynos for P5's seem to bounce from about 95-105whp and 110-115 trq. Funny thing, I've beat other 5spd P5's by a car or 2 on top end and killed many civics. I wonder what they dyno at? Hehe :)

I notice the broad flat torque curve. No wonder we have a wheelspin problem in Solo II. Almost makes ya wish for a more "peaky" motor like those torqueless Honda sh*tboxes. I said "Almost". :)

Actually i don't know. I didn't run the car (boom07)

I think 3rd...
You would get better numbers in fourth. The first time I dyno'd my car, I did a run in third. I came up with like 94 whp. (sad1) Second time, we went in 4th, I gained about 10 whp. Supposedly you want the gear that is closest to 1:1 ratio. Thats 4th for us. So your numbers might even be higher! No big deal probably, as long as next time you do the same gear, so you know how much you gained. Thats all that is really important.

Hmm...that's interesting because i thought the numbers were a bit low. I've been beating alot of other cars that I shouldn't have if I'm making 101. But that torque curve is pretty solid which might be what keeps me in front. (hah)

That is, as long as Mazda didnt change gear ratios between 2002 and 2003 models. ?

Even if you were in 4th, those are good numbers for just having an intake and nothing else. Thanks for the info, its always good to see people post real numbers and dyno sheets up. Makes it much easier to compare mods.

Very true, the P5 seems way torquier, at way lower rpm's than most other econoboxes I've driven. A buddy and I rented a civic for a road trip last fall, it was an ex i believe rated at something like 137hp, and man it had no guts at all. The automatic made it that much worse. We'd set the cruise at 80 and the po' thing would slow and slow on a slight hill to about 75, then have to downshift and rev frantically to catch up. What a dog.

The wife's p5 is right in the meat of the torque curve at 80 and has no problem going up and down moderate hills with 400lbs of gear, 2 people, and 2 bikes on the roof. now that's a useble, flexible engine in my book, and probably the reason the P5 feels faster than it is. Folks are always impressed at how quick the car feels, even though it's kinda slow when you come down to it. It's that plateau of torque they're feeling.

Anyway, that's my two and a half cents on one of the reasons I like our p5

What the hell. I just found out they dynoed my car in 2nd gear. I wonder what my real dyno numbers are...
