yea it is illegal, something about it killin the ozone, scratchnsniff did it to one down here, so i was asking the same question lol

Its not freon anymore, thats old school s***, but yea, its illegal to release refrigerant into the atmosphere. You need to have it evacuated at a shop or if your school has the machines to do it (mine does) you can do it there.
Takes like 15 mins, and if it gets out, it doesnt just attack the ozone, it ******* murders/rapes/destroys/etc

Its the roids

but no, seriously, you dont want to just open the AC system. R-134a boils at -19 degrees, so it will vaporize instantly and go to work destroying ozone. This isnt a theory, this is FACT, it destroys s*** that keeps us from being roasted alive by the sun. It takes 15 mins to evacuate, just do this ONE thing right on your car

agreed. i'm a certified tech and i say its worth it to be eco friendly. don't just pull off the ac lines please. be a man. do the right thing.

Well I have to remove the entire ac system for the sc to go in. Do I have to release the refrigerant just to get the system out?

Okay does it cost anything to get it evacuated properly? And what shops provide this service?

any shop really, most shops I know of do AC work. And I couldnt tell you how much it costs honestly...i wouldnt think it would cost anything since your not refilling the system. Just try to negotiate something

hey man, i was wondering what you ended up doin with those short stroke inserts you had? or where you got them from? lookin to upgrade and am either going to try the short stroke inserts or moving the entire hub mount up, on the strut. its way to stiff right now

I gave up... Dont waist your time. The only inserts ide consider using is KYB AGX or Tokico HTS for the AE86

haha yea iv got nothin but time man, I wanna get some hands on time when it comes to modifying suspension and what not, and thanks ill looks those up, why do you reccomend them? quality? or size?

Quality is not the issue, Bilstein is easily the best strut/shock manufacturer out there. The problem was the people I bought them from advertised them as a different application. They told me they're designed for dirt stock race cars. In other words big muscle cars. When I looked up the part numbers on Bilstein's web page, they are for Quarter Midgets. Cars that weight 1200=1500 lbs, if that. The reason Id recommend them Is because they're cheap for what you get. They both have adjustable dampening and they're both short stroke struts. The KYB is 20mm smaller than stock and the Tokico is 40mm smaller. They are designed for a AE-86 which takes strut cartridge in the front suspension. This basically means you will have to use your stock stuff. Drain the fluid by drilling a hole in the bottom and taking it all apart. You will need to cut the strut tube down so the strut fits perfectly. The stock cap is insufficient to hold strut in place when unloading the suspension. You'll have to weld on the stock cap or get a threaded cap from a MR2 strut and weld it in place.
