well really I'm looking to see if it improves the overall quality of the k04! I have a modified exhaust and i KNOW its only a matter of time before this thing starts to give me problems! I know I know i will have brought them on myself! But after having the rework done do people saying anything about the seals still giving out? I also like the overall gains you guys get! Mainly if i can get a better k04 out of the rebuild instead of dropping $1800 on a new turbo kit is kinda the route i would like to go! Any in site you can give me would be great! Any reviews from your customers would be a great help as well! I am already planning on ordering some stuff from your site anyway when my taxes come in! Cant wait lol
we replace the seals with brand new ones. a larger compressor wheel is installed. every aspect of the assembly is ported and polished, including the wastegate exit. the exhaust wheel is clipped for a faster spool to offset the larger compressor wheel. the unit has a 6 month warranty against internal failure. if the unit is put outside its operational range and fails, trust me, we will know and that will void your warranty. we recommend no higher than 23psi on this unit. if you can't have a fast enough car at 23 psi on this turbo, you're going to need a bigger turbo and a built engine.
we've made 375whp on this turbo with all other bolt ons, stock engine and standback tune. thats 25whp less than a guy with a built engine, a custom large frame turbo and a professional tune put down. if you don't find that impressive, you're in the wrong business
we've made 305whp on this turbo with a upgraded top mount intercooler and stock exhaust - no tune.
some things which need to be noted here. this is designed as a "super stock turbo". by that what you are getting is a turbo that will produce more power per psi than it would stock and retain enough of the airflow characteristics to keep things within a safe spectrum. its still a very small unit and its still a K04. if you have no cats in the car, there is a chance you will at some point down the road get smoke. no K04 that is reworked out there is smoke proof, i don't care what any manufacturer tells you. our machine shop has been doing turbo builds in this manner for almost forty years.
we've had the absolute smallest failure ratio to sale rate of any reworked turbo on the market. i've literally sold over 200 of these since we started doing it, and have replaced three.
