im lookin for custom header for my mp5 and the only 1 i keep finding is awr and awr elimates the first cat which i dont want wut other brands are makin header for us:wtf:

Wasn't there a member on here that made his own? I thinnk his s/n was traveler. Do a search for 'traveler's header' and you will find it. His looks very trick, but is on the pricey side.

I think the Hp racing header would work too. They said it will be out next month  . Then again they've been saying that since the new millineum.

mp5 killa- just curious why you want to keep the 1st cat? you should be able to pass any emmissions without it i think..maybe im wrong

emmissions shouldn't be a problem, but if he has to go through a visual inspection of the emmissions system.........that's basically all that's keeping me from getting one. alot of it depends on where he's from, also.

Just FYI...I know it's different everywhere but..
I have the Ractive header, (No pre-cat) stock mid pipe with second cat and then into a 2.5" cat back. I passed emmissions with flying colors..we have a visual inspection here in Ontario too, the guy testing said as long as there was 1 cat, a resonator and the o2 sensors that's all they were looking for.
Keeping the pre cat and cast downpipe with a shorty header is a waste of time...your looking a very minimal to no gains, you'll see why I say that if you remove them. Just my 2 cents.

well in the US its illegal to modify any portion of the emissions system by federal law. so even gutting your cat could techinically wind you a 5k dollar fine. here in oklahoma we dont have inspections but if i was to get inspected id fail.

Yes..we have the same law here...the part may only be replaced if the original is defective...
Most of the guys working at the muffler shop just dont care or dont know that the car came with 2 cats...they se one, they're happy. I suppose it depends where you go or who you know..
I'm sure most people have a fovourite spot they go...head in first and ask..

Yes and no. It depends on if the state you live in is using OBDII testing or not. Removing the first cat is going to get you a check engine light no matter what. If you roll into the inspection station with that on, it's an automatic failure. If you get a header and also get a MIL Eliminator from someone like Pony Express to get rid of that light, you'll be fine.

All you need to do is add a second o2 bung behind the second cat in the mid pipe ($15 to get a muffler shop to do it) add about 4' of wire (same gau.) to your second o2 wires and install...I've had mine set up like this since Sept. and no mil.
